my 17 month old son STILL wakes up every hour or two for a bottle ALL NIGHT LONG...any suggestions on how to get him to sleep all night...if i do not give him a bottle, he cries for hours on end until he does get one, even if i pick him up, he still cries nonstop until he has a bottle

I've read that by 18 months they should be off the bottle. When I took my son off, he wouldnt drink milk out of ANYTHING, so we have to give him other forms of calcium. Plus side, he now sleeps completely through the night, 10+ hours!

He's doing it now out of routine! It's going to be a hard battle but what I did was start cutting out one feeding at a time for a few days before I'd cut another one out, and then kept repeating till he was out all night. The longer he waits, the better. He'll put up a fight, cuz he's always had it his way and you've always given in. He knows how to pull your strings and it's more of a power struggle when you try to do things differently then he's used to. Even if you don't take away a feeding, then just keep pushing him longer and longer. Even if he cries..eventually he will wear himself out and go to sleep. Do you use pacifiers?? That always helps. How much sleep does he get during the day? Maybe give him a snack before bedtime so he won't be as 'milk' hungry. Those are my suggestions.

MY SON WOULD NOT SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT. WHEN I GOT RID OF THE BOTTLE HE WOKE UP LESS BUT HE ALWAYS HAD NEEDED THE PLUG, HE WOULD WAKE UP JUST FOR THAT. THEN I GOT RID OF THAT, HE CRYED FOR A WHILE BUT EVENTULLY HE STOPPED, AND NOW HE SLEEPS ALL NIGHT LONG.
