2 weeks after I gave birth with my baby, I was diagnosed to have depression. My baby is now a year old but I'm still under medication. I am doing ok but just last week, I was horrified because it strikes again. I was overly depressed and I don't know why it had to happen again considering that my baby is a year old now. Does anyone here experienced the same case as mine? And my toughest time is during noon time. I do not know why..

I have a 14 year old son who has a disability as a result of his delivery (it was medical malpractice). I suffered from PPD for almost 8 years. My med doses were changed several times until we got them to the right amount. I thought for a while there that I'd never get off them. Then one day things started to seem brighter. We reduced the dosage I was taking, and now I'm drug free and depression free. Take the meds. Talk to your doctor. Talk to your spouse or family members, and if possible, go to a counsellor to talk about how you feel.
Just know that it will pass eventually and you need to take the time to let your hormones go back to "normal". Don't feel bad about taking the drugs. You need them for now, and you're not the only person in the world who has needed them. Just make sure you tell your doctor if you feel like they're not helping anymore.

When was the last time you saw a Dr about the strength of your medication? The body builds up a tolerance over time, perhaps this is the problem? You should be careful, you can have symptoms of a withdrawal even while taking your meds if they are not strong enough.

I would suggest you have your doctor refer to you a psychologist. If you have been taking medication for a year and haven't seen a psychologist in that time, then I really think you should. It can help you take steps towards healing and/or coping.

Katrina, in addition to your medication, are you receiving some counselling. While medication can be great, therapy from a qualified professional is also advisable.

Thank you so much ladies. That's very helpful. I thought I was over it and Im leaving a normal life and it strikes again. last week my doctor gave me a higher dose of paroxetine. I am not so down now compared last week but the new problem now is I am so tired of thinking. I am desperate to be healed and be normal again. Sometimes I feel like I am spiritually abused already. I feel like I am praying too much. I have so much fears about everything. Before I got pregnant I had an anxiety disorder. And I think now its coming back. Please pray for me guys.
