2 year old not sleeping

My daughter sleeps on average about 5 hours a night. I put her down and she awakes in a fright usually around the same time. Once i settle her back to sleep she than awakes again, usually ending up in my bed as she refuses to go back into her own. Once there she's up and down most of the night. I'm a working single mum and due to my lack of sleep i am making mistakes at work and am short tempered with my daughter. I have been to the doctors, finally had a breakthrough, however the people my doctor reffered me too, don't deal with sleep apnea in children. So I'm back at square one again. Can someone please help. And i have tried leaving her cry, but that hasn't worked either. Also she has not been sleeping through the day whilst she's in care.

My son is going through this. Most nights he will wake up at 1am screaming like someone chopped his arm off. I researched and researched and I thought it might be night terrors, because he wakes up screaming, I then went to the doctors and they weren't helpful at all, I then researched causes of night terrors. I pin pointed my particular case to the fat that he is to active before bed and not sleeping properly during the day.

So now 2 hours before bed, i put all his toys away, he has a relaxing bath with no toys, I read him a story. He goes to sleep. Success, no screaming. During the day, he has 1 nap, for 1 - 2 hours and I wake him up after that time. :) Hope that helps

Hi I struggle with the same problem. At a time I used to put my son in the bed by me just so that his father and myself could get some sleep. Then there was a time where I used stopayne just to get him to sleep through and stopped and it got better but then he got sick and stopped sleeping through and now I am back to square one where he will wake up three to four times a night and he will not want a bottle he would just sit up and cry, then I put him in the bed and as soon as he is asleep I put him back in his cot.

I never used to have this problem with his sister when she was his age she was sleeping through.

The only advise I can give you, don't let the daycare let her sleep that much in the day that could maybe be the problem she sleeps to much in the day and when night time comes she is not sleepy, or tell them to only let her sleep twice a day for not more than a hour and a half. My son sleep a hour and a half now twice a day and then he will fall asleep at eight o'clock and sleep til about two and wake up for a bottle and go back to sleep again. That is on my lucky nights.

Try it.
