I was surprised when my OB checked me today and told me I was 50% Effaced. I have been nesting like crazy and been having some crampy icky feelings as well as some other symptoms. I was wonder if anyone else was at a similar effacement and how long it was till they went into labor. She is already engaged and I was 3 weeks early when I was born. The jitter bugs are eating me alive.. i'm sure I have some time to go but everyone is different. So how long did it take you once you were told you were effacing?

With my 3rd child I was 100% effaced at 23 weeks pregnant. I dealt with alot of cramping an false labor a number of times. But by 26 weeks I was 4 cm dilated, she made her way into this world with me only being 28 wks pregnant, needless to say I would be worried because she was so early, but she is a happy healthy 7 year old today. I have to say each of my children's births were way to different. My son didn't show his presence til about his due date, my second showed her presence 4 weeks early, my third as I said was way too early, and my last child was 6 weeks early. So it just depends on how well your body takes the pregnancy and when the little one decides it's time..but I wish you the best of luck and Congrats on your little one.

I was 50% effaced at 34 weeks and 1/2 cm dialated. I had my daughter on my exact due date. I was even put off work at 31 weeks as they thought she was going to be early. I started having irregular contractions at 31 weeks and they continued almost daily until she was born. With my first child I was 40% effaced at 36 weeks and he was 8 days late

I was 75% effaced for three weeks and 2-3 centimeters dilated. Even losing the mucous plug for three weeks, but he was born two days before the due date. I didn't have any false contractions and didn't have a real one until after my water broke. Hang in there girl, you've more than likely got awhile to go!

i think its different for every woman really i worked in ob . what did ur doc say? being dilated is more of a sign that labor is coming soon

i was just about fully effaced and 3cm dialated 3 and a half weeks before my due date, and my doc said that i was gonna pop that weekend (which was 3 days away) and i went a week and a half over due.... talk about uncomfortable! i didnt have any early/false contractions or anything until i went into labour. i think it depends on everyone.... if you havent lost your 'plug' then you shouldnt be worried. good luck!

My Dad who is a doctor and my OB have both said that it is a waiting game.. some women effaced rapidly and go directly into labor others will efface and stay at 100% 0 cm till 40 wks. Its definitely frustrating not knowing when she will make her appearance.. i'm not good with surprises. Thanks for sharing your info

I was effaced for almost 2 months of my pregnancy and i was on bedrest bc of cramping and contractions. They ended up having to enduce my labor :( so I dont think that it really means anything to be effaced.
