That's pretty normal. My daughter made singing noises but no syllables until she was 6 months old. Just talk to her a lot and although she may not imitate you she's still listening and watching.

My son was a lot like that. I always tagged him as an analyzer. He is very quick to pick up on things now and I can hardly get him to be quite...lol. All kids are a lot different, maybe your daughter is an analyzer as well!

My young lady is 7 months now and definately babbling, but it didn't start in earnest until she was past the 6 month mark.  I'd bet it won't be long and your little girl will be "talking" up a storm!

don't worry she's still very young most don't make much in the way of babbling noises till they're about 6mths up until then is mainly laughing and crying. infact my son was almost 9mths old before he started babbling, mind he is also slow with his speach don't know if they're connected. but 5mths old is deffinately not late to be babbling.

My daughter is 6 days from reaching 5 months and she barely makes any noises! Sometimes I hear her in the morning making "singing" noises in her crib and through out the day she'll try to get some noises out. But still nothing steady...is this a problem? Or maybe she's just a late bloomer? I did recently hear her get out a "g" noise. She's not around kids at all so I'm guessing that might be a reason why she's not learning as quick as infants do when they're in a daycare.
