My baby girl will be 8 months in a week, and she hasn't even tried to crawl. When do most babies start to crawl?

Don't fret Brianna! My son will be eight months on the 18th, and he isn't crawling yet. He gets on his hands and knees by himself and rocks, so I am guessing it will be soon.

Just keep with the tummy time, and keep placing toys just out of reach for your sweet girl. Don't try to force her, or she won't want to crawl. You can also crawl around her to show her...it's a fun way to play around anyways! :)

The average time babies crawl is like 5-12 months I think, so don't worry! She will crawl when she wants to, so she is just giving you more time to baby-proof the house! :)

Good luck!

all babies do there own thing at there own time, some babies skip crawling all together, some just are kinda lazy and would rather just sit up and chill. It really depends, how long ago did she sit up?? I know my daughter and my son are so different from each other, Each child is different, she will in her own time :)

every baby is different, my daughter wasn't crawling at 8 mo either then she had a week "phase" of crawling and took off walking after that.

I have a set of twins my daughter was crawling at 4 month mean while her brother was 9 months old all children are different. Try placing her on tummy time for at least 30 mins a day and set her tos just out of reach I know this sound mean but it gives them a reason to move, if they can reach everything or you give them everything then why would they want to move. Bear in mind a girl friend of mine has a son the same age as my twins which is 15months and he still isn't crawling they will do it in there own time. Enjoy the fact that she cant get around and that your house is safe while you can once they start they dont stop. lol Good luck

It is sooo different for ever child. My neice was crawling extremely early...probably to "make room" for her soon to come brother. He on the other hand took forever to crawl...he was quite the "bobble-head". When he finally crawled he only did it for about 3 weeks and then went to walking...crawling just wasn't his thing. My daughter is 4 1/2 months and bless her heart she wants to move so bad but the whole "tummy time" is really annoying to her so she scoots on her back??? She's a bit odd...I love her oddness!!!

every baby develops at a different rate. my son was a little early, but took longer to walk then most. to help him with crawling, i would get him on his hands and knees and push his feet, it got him going. i also used toys that rolled, b/c then he would chase them

dont worry about it !!!!!!!!!!!i was uber freaken when my first didnt do the typical things a baby did at a certina age.... I called 3 different public heath nurses and one actually came to see me....
she was telling me how most moms carry the baby on our hips, and often when our baby doesnt crawl or walk when the "normal" baby does we make things mor excessable for them ie: toys, snack, blanket and so on...
turns out my little guy was just lazy, and I was helping him - when he wanted somthing i would bring it to him or carry him around...

All babies are different and do things at different times. I have 3 girls and one of mine skipped crawling and just started walking. I had the same question and her doctor said it was perfectly normal. Don't worry she will start doing it when she's ready and you will be wanting her to slow down.l

My son did not start crawling until he was 11 months old, then didn't walk until he was 16 months. Don't worry, she will do it when she is ready. Don't be in a hurry. Once they start moving, your life is much busier.

If you are worried about it and want to teach her to crawl, you can try crawling yourself so she sees that crawling is an option, or making sure she gets to see other babies crawling, that helped my kido. But he didn't start till about then too, maybe a little later, so don't worry about it!

I wouldn't say that I pressured my little girl, but I stayed home with her so I tried to work with her. All the old tips, putting toys in front of them and what-not. But my little girl walked on her knees before she crawled, this had us befuddled but laughing. She almost skipped crawling in the fact that she only did it for about a month before she started walking. Which was about 13 1/2 months.

I know we all want our kids to be on the higher end of statistics, my suggestion would be if she's not doing anything to get herself moving and you're still concerned mention it at the next doctor's visit.

Good Luck!! =)

Well, my daughter never did crawl. She started walking when she was 9 1/2 months. I don't think all babies have to crawl. Each baby is just different and I don't think that it means anything if your baby crawls before they walk or if they don't. My daughter has had no problems with walking jus because she didn't crawl. I think your baby may just start a little later or may just dive right into walking. Good luck!

Babies learn and adapt at a different pace depending on when they feel it's right. My daughter will be eight months on the 27th as well. and both my husband and I have seen her get up on her hands and knees but she has only done it a few times. We know that in due time when she feels she is ready she will do it. I wouldn't worry when it comes to babies they set there own pace and everyone of them are different, Good Luck. Ps enjoy the time she isn't crawling because before long she will be mobile and then she'll always want to be going and not like to be held and getting into everything lol

Typically from ages 6 months to 12 months. Some things you can try are to put toys in front of her out of reach make her start trying to get them.

my daughter started crawling at about 8 months, started walking holding onto things at 9-10 months and was walking without help by her first birthday. I thought that the day would never come that she would crawl, but when she did i wished that she never started. lol. My daughter sat back and observed everything for the first 8-12 months of her life which i feel has made her explode into what she is now. SHe has a huge vocabulary, understands, compehends and gives feedback. i have learned that when a child is ready to make its milestones, it will do it. They say you cant rush perfection:)

my two boys each crawled around 7 months and walked at 11-12 months. every baby is different, depends on how much you have them on the floor playing. after they are used to being on floor playing, they start to get up on hands and knees and boppin around. it's the cutest thing. then start placing toys and such a lil further away and then they start to go. my oldest used to go after empty 2 liter bottles. he loved when there was something makin noise inside of it. good luck and just be patient

My son didn't crawl at all - he went straight from sitting (5 months) to shuffling on his bottom (6.5 months) to standing (7 months), then to walking holding onto furniture (8 months) then full on walking (10 months) to running full speed (13 months). Your daughter will make her move when she's ready. If you want to encourage crawling though try more tummy time with all her favourite toys just out of reach so she has to move to get them (my son hated this so he shuffled before he started to pull himself up).

You just have to be Patient.Good luck

my son is 13 months old and still has never crawled. we found out at 12 months that he is long sighted so he couldnt see the floor under him. since having his glasses he is now showing the first signs that he is going to crawl but i think he will walk before he crawls. if your really worried get him checked out but remember all kids do things at different times and they will get there when there ready.

My middle child crawled at 9 months, but even after he took his first steps he prfered being on the floor. every child is different, even in the same family

enjoy it while it lasts! because once she starts crawling she'll be all over the place! lol, but my son didn't start crawling until he was about 8 months... before this i was worried because another baby his age was already crawling at 6 months, but i realized that all kids are different, i shouldn't worry about other kids, just mines. Also, I tried to just leave him on the floor most of the time, he at first just started rolling everywhere, then he learned to drag himself across the floor, then he got up on all fours and that lasted for a couple weeks, then one day he just started crawling!

She's probably just not ready yet. My son went from crawling at 8 1/2 months to walking at 12 months to running at 13 months. You can encourage her by lots of tummy time and putting toys just out of her reach. Also, you can help her up into crawling position to help her develop those muscles. If you are super worried you can always ask your pediatrician at your next checkup and he/she will help you evaluate if there is even any need to worry. (Probably not!) My advice is to enjoy the time that you are able to sit down! Once she gets mobile you will miss relaxing! ; )

My son never crawled in the traditional sense of the word. He scooted on his butt and his little legs went back and forth like windshield wippers. He is now 18mos old and is just starting to attempt to crawl in the traditional sense as he pushes his toy cars around on the floor. He still doesn't like to put his knees on the ground.

My mom claims that I didn't start walking till I was 16 months old all because my depth perception took a while longer to fully develop.
The point is, don't worry about it.
To answer your question, most babies I meet started crawling at about 9 months and walking at about 12.

It is so true that every baby is different...my daughter did things so much faster than my son did. He truly despised "tummy time" and took him a while to even push and sit up on his own. But as soon as he did, which was closer to the age of 1, he started walking shortly thereafter. I wouldn't be too anxious about it...she will do it when she is ready. You might be able to encourage it if you can have a play date with other babies close to her age that are crawling. But I wouldn't be too worried...remember, once they go mobile...you can never go back. LOL! Enjoy the baby time
