My 8 month old daughter has been strictly breast fed and also eats solids ..however she refuses to drink from ANY kind of bottle or cup! Any ideas? I plan on going back to work and August and I really need some tips..

I agree, Elizabeth, all three of mine are completely different, even though they were all fed and raised the same way. It's so crazy sometimes.

Ohhh.....this is like going back to a bad dream for me. My daughter Maris wouldn't take ANYTHING, not even a pacifier, until she was 11 months. When the others were born I immediately stuck a binky in their mouths, even though I was breastfeeding. There was no way I was doing that again!

The only way I was finally able to break her was to just quit breastfeeding cold turkey. Once she realized that it wasn't an option anymore, she drank from a sippy cup. We had one rough night, but then she realized it was all gone, and she got over it.

I have two boys and it was my second that did this. And the first one was fine, no problems, he'll do whatever you want him to. Kids are just so different from each other, it's funny sometimes.

Yikes. Ok, have you tried the ones with the really soft spout that fit onto a baby bottle? Or....is it maybe what's in the cup? If you still have milk you could try putting it into the bottle, letting her SEE you put it into the cup/bottle so she knows what it is without tasting it?

Try a cup with a straw, one of the very soft flexible straws that are built into the cup. I breastfed my son until he was 1yr and he did the same thing, and that was the only thing I could get him to take at first. It's the easiest because they also don't have to learn to tilt the cup up to drink out of yet.
