acne

[deleted account] ( 12 moms have responded )

I'm 22 years old, about to be 23. I always remember having mild acne and blemishes since I was 16, but recently its gotten HORRIBLE! I've been to the dr, and have been given prescription strength creams and pills, neither worked. I've used name brand and off brand washes, creams, gels, masks, scrubs, I've tried proactive...basically anything you can think of in that isle at the store, I've used, and nothing seems to help. It's getting worse day by day and starting to be a real confidence and self esteem killer. Does anyone know of anything that will help?

proactive never worked for my daughter...try taking biotin(pills) it's for a clear complextion...also take regular regiment of vitamins, E,primrose helps...all of these together...drink lots of water and don't eat high oily foods...lots of fruits and veggies...give it time...it will take a month or more to notice a difference...don't over wash your face...u r irritating it with all the washes, creams scrubs masks...you r washing away the natural oils your face needs...keep your cellphone away from it and your hands off of it...

i dont wear makeup, only mascara, because i dont want to make it worse. i have used the Acne-Free, actually i just emptied the tube about a week ago, it seemed to help a little bit, but then made it worse. i have not changed my diet, it has been the same for about 4 years, no red meat, no fish or poultry. lots of fresh fruits and veggies, soy protiens, beans, ect. i dont eat sweets or use sugar. i wash my face every morning and every night. i dont think its a HUGE deal, but like i said in my OP, its just a self confidence killer. i dont want to leave my house and be seen in public because its getting to be so bad. i recently lost my health insurance since getting out of the military and cannot afford to get any more at this point, so going to see derm is not an option at this point...

I have had this problem and it was getting worse. I just recently started using stuff from The Body Shop. Its called Tea Tree Oil, its a system like Proactive (which never worked for me) but it doesnt use the commons chemicals in other things its all natural. And Can honestly say that after 10days my skin does look and feel better. Now I still have gottne a few new breakouts which are normal because this stuff pulls the toxins out of your skin but even with that my skin is awesome. Plus it also has a 60 money back guarantee no matter how much or how little of the product you use. I think the only flaw is the smell, your face will smell like a forest. Im still trying it out but so far its worked better then anything Ive gotten at the store and it doesnt dry out the skin and make it peel like somethings do.

Tea Tree Oils is a natural antifungal remedy and is great for curing athletes foot and acne especially on the back. But TTO should NEVER be used on the face at full strength.  It can be highly toxic.  It should always be diluted.

It can also leave your face really oily feeling and the oil build up can cause your pores to clog up.

Its not full strength, its in a face wash and stuff like that. Its like proactive but uses tea tree oil in place of sylaic acid.

I have tried Proactive and Mario Badescue as well as prettymuch everything in the isle of Walmart and NOTHING has worked. The Proactive and Mario actually made it worse somehow.
I finally tried some stuff that i found at Walmart that claimed to be better than Proactive and I LOVE it. It works. Its called Acne Free and its in an orange and silver package in the face wash isle at Walmart.

I also started using talk free makeup like mineral powders and stuff. I stopped using the cream concealers and cheap makeups. Now all that i use is Jane Be Pure mineral makeup.

You want something that doesnt settle into the pores and instead sits on top. Also something talk and oil free.

I had the same problem. My skin all of a sudden took a turn for the worse. I was using Proactive and it suddenly did nothing for me. I then found out that Proactive has an extra strength solution, which helped me. I wash my face every night and morning, first with Cetaphil for oily skin, then follow with the three Proactive steps using the extra strength solution. Also, do you wear face powder or foundation? Maybe it's time to try something different and see if that helps?

Acne can definitely be hormonal, which is why some women clear up and some get worse when pregnant. It can also be stress related, if your stress level has increased recently. Not exactly sure what can be done for it, but you may want to try going to an actual dermatologist or even talking to your gyn to see if it could be hormonal.

If your not breast feeding then ask you doctor to put you on the pill...diane or yasmin are excellent. i had acne for years, i tried the prescription creams but they were harsh on my skin and the acne antibiotics have been linked with depression. the pill cleared my skin up within a month.

with the face washing use something simple and gentle..like cetaphil or dermeze, and use moisturizer that is non-comedogenic as it wont clog your pores.

i've been having a similar problem. I keep breaking out in the same place. I use good stuff on my face, and it hasnt been working. When i'm pregnate i have like flawless skin, and suddenly I have breakouts. Maybe hormonal???
