I have a 4 year old who has been diagnosed with ADHD but he is too young for medication. At least thats what his phsyciatrist says, anyways, i'ver been battling the behavior for almost ayear now and his younger siblings are picking up some of his behaviors. Any suggestiopns of how to calm him down and help "reprogram" the younger boys?

Also they told me red dyes like in kool-ade, jello, hot dogs and bologna are very bad for them.

I have a 6 year old who is like that... I just put him in alot of active sports and it helps. The dr.s told me they really couldnt diagnosed until he was 7 or 8.

we have had many children come through our pre- school with ADHD or ADD and a few of them have gone on the ELIMINATION DIET , to see if any foods affect them , you would be surprised at what foods have effect , not just things with additives but things like tomatoes and oranges , wheat , every child that i have known to go on this has had dramatic effect , they were completly new children ask your doctor for more info if your interested !! good luck

I also have a 4 year old with ADHD although after his neuropsych evaluation he was recommended to start meds (something I'm still considering) but I found reading a lot of books about ADHD to be helpful. You should pick up "The ADHD Parenting Handbook:Advice from parents to parents" I got so many ideas from it, it really was a lifesaver
