My daughters other side of the fam are really outgoing people, spring is coming up and I don't want to seem over protective or keep my 7 month old all to myself and not let her spend time with her other side of the family however some events aren't for a now 7 month old.... How do I stand in my ground and keep the peace?how would others handle this situation?

It also gives you the opportunity to separate facts from fears regarding certain things, and learn that SOME things may not be as big of a concern as you originally thought. :)

Do research regarding the things you're concerned about to see if they are valid issues, and if you get confirmation that you concerns are valid just be very factual when saying no. "No, actually I have done some research and....".

I personally can't wait to send my baby into the outdoor pool with my husband, but I am concerned about the cold... I will want to do research about that ahead of time.

Lol yeah that is a little extreme but with advice like that you'll be a great mom and prove good points the right way.

Lol! That will be me shortly. I don't have any kids of my own, but I had a really adventurous little brother who ended up in the hospital because he was doing stupid stuff all the time.
I think I am going to have problems calming my hubby down regarding the over-protectiveness though. He gets upset when the dog eats snow... I had to tell him that I was not going to give our children crap for eating snow, and he could suck it if he thought I was. lol. The rule is: Don't eat yellow/discolored snow for me... lol

I'll give you an example: at 3 months in the fall they wanted to put her in an outdoor pool. I do want her to experience things I never did, and get to know them however so far I know of a camping trip coming up and swimming.... I just don't want her in danger, I don't feel as if I'm overprotective just don't want to put her in harms way.

How protective are you? You will need to find a balance. He is only 7 months old so I am sure that they wont do anything to put him at real risk. Kids are generally pretty resilient, but what unsafe activities do you expect them to take a 7 month old on?
