I AM 27 W/ A 10 YR OLD DAUGHTER. I HAVEN'T SPANKED HER WITHIN MAYBE A YEAR AND A HALF. I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF ALLLLLLL THE TIME WHEN SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE SHOULD DO. WHEN I TELL HER SOMETHING SHE KINDA GETS A ATTITUDE, AND GETS A SMART MOUTH WHICH LENDS ME TO GET ONE THEN SOMETIME I GO OVERBORAD. (WHEN THAT HAPPENS I FEEL BAD) I TRY TALKING CALMLY BUT WHEN I DO THAT SHE THINKS I'M PLAYING,NOW DNT GET ME WRONG WE HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP,IT'S JUST SOMETIME IT'S TO MUCH> HOW CAN I HANDLE THIS?

You have to let her know who the mother is and who the daughter is! If you dont want to spank her try taking away the things that she likes when she gets mouthy! My son is only four and he acts like he is ten! I have never spanked him! He has something to say back to everything that I say to him! But he realizes that I am serious when he is put to bed early or loses some priviledge that he is used too! It is hard with children these days cause they are so much grown so much earlier! Trust me you can handle it you just have to find another way to put your foot down that she will understand! But the main thing is she needs to know that she is still a little girl! I hope it helps some! Keep me posted!

It has only just begun! I am 30 w/a soon to be 13 year old daughter! One thing that helps me is to remember to not take things personal, they will say things and act in certain way becasue they are changing. Keep the line of communication open with your daughter! Sometimes I ground my daughter, take away cell phone, or other valued items. And other times she is just so mouthy I send her outside. Just to give my self time to calm down and to hopefully make her think about her attitude. Make time to have special time with her and praise her for things she does right! Share your experiences as a young girl----some obstacles and how you handled them.
