Where do I find other mothers to hang out/have play dates/do kid things with? I don't want to just creep around Ducky Joe's or McDonalds picking up mothers...come on Mandeville moms, where are you?

I go to a Moms group at my church. Even if you don't go to church you can find out if there's a group near you. I would go crazy if I didn't have to look forward to every week!!

I found something called the MOMSclub...maybe an alternative to MOPS. I think this club is just fot stay at home moms, and they offer just mom outings, playdates (in-home), and family outings. Maybe, Tanya, you can find a chapter in your area www.momsclub.org

I'm in Mandeville, Louisiana...I mentioned Ducky Joe's b/c it's an indoor play area (air conditioned is a must in Louisiana) and we don't go to the park often due to the heat. I'll try the MOPS thing, I guess, but I feel so weird sometimes with ppl I don't know! My son is only 17 months old, and he's very shy with other adults. Oh, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess, right? Thanks, everyone!

Where I live there is a stay at home moms group, you could possibly find them on craigslist, or poting some kind of ad on there

go to the park also. meeting up where it is safe, you don't have to do play dates at home. its an easy way to make connections with out feeling weird about strangers. my first advice would have been to get involved with a church group! You've aleady gotten that advice so I wanted to give something different! hope this helps!

Find a MOPS group. Go to a church near you and they will probably have a list or idea of where you can ask to find a MOPS meeting group. MOPS is great! I do not get to stay home, but I have a friend who does and the MOPS group meets with their kids once a week and they do fun stuff together. The kids play together and the moms talk. THe group my friend belonged to did a theme for their meetings called "adventures in motherhood" and she put together a photo collage of her folded laundry moving its way down the hall. I know it sounds odd, but it was oooo funny!

Churches are great sources and you do not have to believe to go and Waldorf schools are great, they generally have parent TOT art classes and stuff. Rec centers are really cool too, they have cheep classes during the day and the one close to me has a parent TOT gymnastics class.

I hope this helps!! Good luck!
