Hey everyone!

I just had to start my son on formula and was wondering if anyone had any tips for boiling water for formula.

It's seems such a hassle to boil for each bottle, and then wait for it to cool down. Is it safe to boil water in a kettle and leave it in there for one days feeding?

I have been boiling 16oz twice a day in the pot and then transferring to a thermos which keeps the water warm for 24 hours, but bought a kettle as I thought it would be easier.

for my first i would make up a bunch of bottles for the day and put the in the fridge...but then when he was hungry i had to warm them up which could be a pain in the butt if they are screaming because their hungry and the damn bottle wont warm up fast enough!! lol. What i did with my second was boiled the kettle in the morning and just left the water in it all day. Whenever he was hungry i would just pour it straight into the bottle..mix up the formula and gave it to him at room temperature. What a difference!! When i used the last of it i boiled more and by the time he was ready for his next feeding the water was room temperature :)

Ya I definitely will. It would be awesome to not have to. Would make it a lot easier when we travel to see family and what not.

Hm...I guess I've never read the instructions on the can :) Whoops. My kids are 6, 4, 3 and 19 months, so it hasn't been that long since I've had a baby, but still...huh. So yeah, I would ask the doc. Could save you some time and effort if you don't need to do it :)

Ya my sister never did for her kids either, they're 6 and 8 now but the instructions on the formula say to. I don't know if things changed since then or what lol. I guess it depends on your cities water supply. I figured I would follow the instructions and ask my doctor about boiling the water at our next doctors appt on Thursday :)

Thanks guys. After doing it for a few days I've gotten into a routine and it's pretty easy now. :)
