My doctors say 3 or 4 c-sections should be the max. I've already had 3 but I would like to have more then 4 .

Quoting Erica:

Maybe you should try to find a hospital that will do a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian). Then you could have more then four children.

That was what I was wanting to do but in my area they don't perform vbacs and they say definitely not after 3 c-sections.

Quoting Stephanie:

I have only had one c-section, since I only have one daughter, however, my sister-in-law had four c-sections! Her doctor also told her that 3-4 was the limit so when she got pregnant with the fourth she was nervous, but everything turned out fine and he is 2 now! She did however get her tubes tied during her last c-section, since she would not beable to have more children safely! Good Luck and I hope everything works out for u! Hope this helped! Your children are beautiful!

Thank you for sharing your story!  I would like to wait for my 4th one for another 2 or 3 years but I'm really scared about it. But I just feel that if God is going to put that baby there then he will take care of me and that child!

Mu mum had for c-sections and so did my aunty...with my aunty though they didnt cut her in the same place each time...first they cut her in the 'normal' place on the bikini line, then they cut her parralel to that line (above) then vertically down the middle and lastly diagonally across the other three lines...not sure why they did this or if it is even 'safe' but apparently if she wanted to she could have had more...

hiya im booked in for my 3rd c-section and i've been told that obviously they cant stop you having babies but the scar tissue gets harder to cut/sew back together each time as well as problems with scar tissue healing, but my midwife said as long as your prepared for longer recovery they cant see no problem, but she did say not to go mad and have 9 lol

Ask your doctor about how your last c-section went. I had 2 c-sections (the first due to low fluid and failure to progress during an induction, and the second because it was too close to the first - 17 months - that my doctor wouldn't even consider a vbac). When I went for my annual exam one year after the delivery of my second son, I asked my doctor about his thoughts on how my c-sections went and if he thought I could have more kids (since they would all have to be c-sections from here on out). My doctor told me that since everything went great with my second c-section and there were no complications he didn't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to have a 3rd or a 4th. I am assuming, however, that the 4th baby would be dependent on how the 3rd delivery went but my husband is reluctant to add to our family so we'll see if a 3rd ever happens.

Good luck!

My mum had 6 c-sections. However there was a 10 year gap between baby No. 3 and baby No. 4. (A second marriage).

Her Ob/gyn said that she was okay because of the large gap between the first three and the second three babies. She did have some complications with No. 5, however they claim that this was due to her age, not the fact that it was her 5th c-section.

Hi, I have had 3 c-sections after 2 natural births and my doctor told me I could have another one. He did explain that they advise no more than 3 because of longer recovery times, slightly higher risks as well as the actual operation taking longer. A friend of mine has 4 c-sections and was told she could have another!! It's not like they can say no if you get pregnant, the baby has to be born!! But it all comes down to how much you are willing to put your body through and whether you are willing to take all of the risks. I think you should get advice from doctors to find out if it's ok for you. And i guess it depend on the reasons why you have c-sections,if there is a medical reason it might not be safe to have any more. The reason I had c-sections for my last 3 was because my 2nd child was stillborn at 39 weeks and there was never any cause found. I didn't feel comfortable going full term in case in fear that something else would go wrong. I would love to have another baby but am unsure if i want to put my body through any more. 5 pregnancies, 3 of them c-sections might be enough for me!
