My daughter is 3yrs old. She is 3ft3 and 40 pounds. She is in a size 5T. She is not fat but big. Anyone else have "Larger" children. Not fat wise just bigger than there age. Oh everyone thinks my daughter is 5yrs old and I get funny looks because she is 3 and talks like a 3 yr old, I laugh at it because people are shocked to find out her age.

Maybe you are shrinking her clothes in the wash? I just don't understand how are bigger children are comfortably wearing smaller clothes than your smaller child

what do you mean you are not buying it? My daughter is also 3 ...3"4 and 40lbs and wear a size 5T. The clothes are already starting to fit a bit tight and we are going into 6T. She isn't fat at all, no belly, just "solid".

Oh goodness I know what you mean! My son was born 13 lbs so I had to get out the 3 month clothing and ditch the newbies. He was in about.. 12 month clothing by the time he reached 5-6 months. He's 2 now and fits 3x and 4 T clothing. The clothing isn't the hard part.. for it would have to be the shoes! His feet are so wide (I want to say fat.. but that's not really the case. His toes aren't chubby or anything) but his feet are big. Right now I have him on size 8 shoes. They seem to be wide enough. Alot of people think he's about 3- 3 1/2 years old and are pretty shocked to hear about his age too. The best thing: He may be big but he's got a great loving personality ♥

@Ashely- It was more disbelief than catty and it was not at you. I just find it hard to believe that someones child whom is clearly smaller than mine can wear 3 sizes larger and be wearing the same size as my much larger older child.

My son is 28 months, 40inches n 50lbs. my daughter is 16 months,33inches and 45lbs. At 10 years old I was 250lbs. I think it just depends on the kid n their genes!! The doctors can't even say they are over weight. They are happy healthy lil kids. They will loose it as they grow and play. My daughter looks like a 3 year old and my son gets mistakin for a 5 year old.

My son is 11 months old and 40 pounds!! He was born at 9lbs 2oz. He's not over fed. He's my 4th son and other boys were not this size at this age (always were normal size/weight). I have seen every doctor you can imagine and I'm getting NO WHERE. He's also tall but not off the charts at 31 inches long. Its not prader willi syndrome we know that or hormonal or thyroid. If anyone out there has a similar issue please let me know.

he has ALWAYS be a BIG boy. he was 10lbs 8oz and 24in long at birth, he was heavy but he def wasnt chunky. now he just has chunky thighs n a bubble butt ( have no clue where he got the butt from no one in either family has one) but he has almost no stomach.

My son is just about that as well. My son wears between a 5t and 6t depending on the cut of clothes, and like you he is no longer chubby just big. My pediatrician used to call him a line backer.

My oldest son was always big for his age. He was average size when he was born, 8 lbs 11 oz, 21 in long. He always wore at least 2 sizes bigger than his age. I thought whomever designed the size system was crazy. He's now almost 16 and 5 ft 10 @ 200 lbs but very fit. He's a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has a lot of muscle. My two younger kids (including my 9 year old that was 10 lbs 2 oz when he was born) were pretty spot on when they were younger are now bigger. My 9 year old wears size 12 and my daughter just turned 5 two weeks ago wears 6/7. It's funny to see them next to "average" sized kids their age because they are more than a head taller than some of them. I am by no means tall - 5 ft 2 in and my husband is 5 ft 10 in - pretty average. Your dd may just be one of the bigger kids that will always tower over her friends.

My last 2 were preemies at birth (thank goodness cause 10-12 pound babies at birth are not for me) but would have been big babies and wasted no time catching up. My son was 4 lb 1 oz at birth wearing a size 1 shoe (talk about weird looking and hard to get sleepers that fit) and was 20 pounds at his 16 week checkup. Now he is 7 and is 4ft 4 inches, around 75 pounds and wears a size 10-12 in clothing and a size 6 in mens shoes. My daughter was 4 lb 13.8 oz at birth and now is 3ft 3in and 41 pounds and is only 29 months. She is in a 4t and some 5t tops and a 9 in shoes. Most people think that he is 10 and she is 4. But that is normal for their dad side of the family.

I do. My husband is 6ft 5in and both my children were big at birth. My oldest was 9lb 13 oz and 23 1/2 in when born and my second was a little shorter but the same weight. Right now my oldest just turned 4 and is in 5T clothing (he is thin maybe 42 pounds but very tall!!) People mistake him for being 6 years old all the time. My other child just turned 2 and is in 2T clothing but is tall for his age as well. All kids will grow at their own pace. My husband as a child was a 50 pound 3 year old and was as tall as a six year old so i knew what to expect. I am sure your daughter is growing at the pace is suppose to.

I have a 2 1/2 year old little girl, at 32 lbs she's tall for her age, and talks very well. We get asked all the time how old she is because for being so small, but tall at the same time she gets mistaken for a 4 year old very often. She even wears 4T clothes!
I also have a 2 month old baby boy, who is now wearing 6 month clothes, but still only weighs about 12 lbs. Both my kids seem to have gotten the "big 'n' tall stature" from their father!

Yp my son was born 10lbs and 3oz, so to keep him from becoming one of those over weight kids on Murray we eat healthy. I'm not a fit person what so ever please believe that 2st of all, but I do love fruits and raw veggies. We don't have soda in our house first of all his eczema would flare and I break out. If I do buy a bag of chips it stays in there for a month or 2. I buy cucumbers and cut them into a container and he'll just go in the fridge(mind you he's 2 y/o - 3 in June) and eat them while sittin on the couch like other kids do chips. I do buy veggie chips or straws they taste good too. I sneak in veggie wheel pasta(trick to them are put in pot b4 boiling so they don't take to long to cook- same method w/brown rice) Oh yeah when I buy fruit I put sum on a fruit bowl on the take as a center piece so it is easy for us to eat, then store the rest in the fridge so they can last longer till I put more on the bowl on the table. He's tall for his age but not chunky what so ever. I let him play outside as much as possible and ride his bike, smh I haveto run-which I don't do- to catch up to him.

Our daughter is 2 years 11 months and is 3'6" and 47 lbs. She's already wearing 6 or 6x clothes. Most people think that she is 4. She also is very outgoing and has a HUGE vocabulary (which she uses correctly) which contributes to the problem. (Just after her second birthday she announced to me that her diaper was 'malodorous').

I have to say that my biggest issue with having a very tall daughter is that many of the clothes are extremely age inappropriate. I do not want my 3 yr old wearing low-cut, off the shoulder hoochie clothes. I am blessed with many talented women in my family and we all sew for her. I also really like Hanna Anderson--pricey, but well made and appropriate clothes. We have several items that she has worn for over a year now (jeans, cargo pants, twirly dress, shirt). That makes it worth the price, especially since we shop the sales and clearance items. Oh, also like the Hanna Anderson briefs. No wedgies! Since I take her to my office hours (I'm a professor) I can't have her hiking up her skirt to yank out a wedgie when my students are trying to get help! :-)

both my kids were 9lbs at birth so i thought that they would be big girls, but they are just very tall. My 2 year old is over the 100 percentile for height but only 75 for weight (they are predicting that she will be over 6ft tall) and my 9 month old is 98 height and only 65 weight. She is already wearing some clothes for 12-18 months to fit her in the legs but they are too big in the waist and we have the same problem with my 2 year old. I have to get her 3t-4t clothes so they fit her long legs and torso but i HAVE to get the kind with adjustable elastic in the waist or the fall right off her. So yes they are big girls but by big I mean tall. Not sure if thats the kind of big you were talking about. I was 10lbs 3oz when I was born though and they all thought that I would be "big" but I'm the same as my girls. Tall and lanky

My son just turned 6 months and is wearing 18 month clothing. He's not overly chubby, just really really long. I think he is going to be big for his age. My cousin's son is the same way as your daughter. He's only 2 and looks like a 4 or 5 year old and people think something is wrong with him because he can barely say 3 word sentences. My brother's son is the opposite story though. He's 6 and struggles to stay above 40 pounds. The doctors say all three of the boys are perfectly healthy though so I guess as long as the doc says don't worry, don't worry. :)

I have twins that will be 2 next month. When they were born at 37 weeks ( i asked to be induced because I was miserable) they were both 21inches long. One of them was 7lbs 9ozs and the other was 7lbs 12ozs! When they were 18months (the last time I had them weighed and measured) they were 29lbs and 33 inches. Six months later and they are already in a size 4t and 8.5/9 size shoe. The same size as their 4yr old cousins. (I don't know how big they are now though) I also have a 4month old who was born 5 weeks early at 9lbs 7ozs and 22inches. She is already 25.5 inches and 15lbs which is also off the charts for her adjusted age! I'm 5'7" and my husband is 6'3" and the short guy in his family!

@ Medic Mommy, You comment sounded a little catty, I don't think you meant it to, But i think any intelligent mother knows how a child's cloths should fit, If I put my 3yr old in a size 4t shirt, when she stands her belly hangs out(no she is not fat or overweight), If i put her in size 3T pants her ankles show and you can see her socks, My daughter has a very long torso with short legs. She is built very muscularly (I have the bruises to prove how powerful she is). She eats healthy, has a salad and piece of fruit at least once a day and only eats "Junk" food once a week when she visits her grandparents(Hey they want to spoil her so once a week I keep my mouth shut). She is very active, she gets bored if she is not outside playing. Oh and just for the record, I am 5'2 and 120, my husband is 5'9 and 165, so neither one of us would be considered "Large"
