Just wanted to see who on here is part of the military whether its yourself or your spouse. Ive been in the army for 6 yrs now... its where I met my husband. My first daughter was born on Fort Leonard wood and is an Army Brat. My second daughter was born here in Hastings, MI. Recently I just found out that im going to be deploying June 2010. They told us 2 months ago that it got pushed up to Feb. 2010 (yay). I knew that being in the military this was going to happen one way or another and im fine serving my country but I know im gunna miss my hubby and babies. The fact that ill miss kacey's 4th and Reilly's 2nd kills me but at least im not missing Reilly's first birthday which is in 2 months.

Hi Kelly, I've been serving the military for 8 years now and the process that it takes these new soldiers when they come in their first time is sort of long. If he left Monday he will be first going to a processing station where he will get all his uniforms, gear, haircut (if needed) and shots. In the past we were given a chance to use the phone but consisted of 30 seconds while a drill sergeant stands right next to you. Until they are completely processes and sent to their unit they won't have access to write a letter or have an address to be written to. So maybe his dad has received at least a phone call. I only got a chance for one so it was up to my mom to call my father and relay the news. Hope this helps.

I am a new Army Mom, my son left on Monday. I still haven't received an address to write him. Any suggestions as to why? I am divorced and remarried, he lived with his dad in SC so that is his residence. So I am assuming his dad gets all the notifications. I really am starting to get concerned. Thanks for listening.

Wow, thank you all that wrote back to me with your stories and familiarity. Its nice to know that others are going through or have gone through my situation.

Julianne - totally know what you mean about the military hospitals... there werent any nusery's at mine either so they kept the baby right in the room with me too. lovedd that.

Nicole - I def. plan on using the webcam, we both have them already only because My husband works on the road alot and sometimes we use that when hes gone for a while. Def. great investment.

Jamie - sure is a hard thing we are practically married to the military. :)

Jessica - thanks you! God bless u and ur fam as well!

My husband was in the Navy for almost 10 years, and even though i did not deploy like he did, it was still a big hole in my heart. Being by yourself with kids is one thing, but being alone with kids and worrying about your other half being over in other countries not knowing if they will come back is very hard. I give you big kuudos for what you do, being a mother and a woman in the armed forces must be very challenging. God Bless you.

Hi there brooke. I'm an army wife going on 5 years. We just had our 1st baby, our son Austin 4 months ago. My husband has deployed twice so fare. He left for his 1st deployment 4 months after we got married and was gone for 12 months. He was home for only 12 months after that one before they shipped him off again for 15 months for his 2nd deployment. We didn't have any kids during any of those deployments. but we did have a nephew who was born during the 1st deployment. And i helped my sister-in-law take care of him during both those deployments. It is a though thing to have to do leave your spouse and kids so you can go over and due your job. My advice to you is to get 2 web cams. One for your husband and one for you to take over. That's what my husband and i did both deployments. And it was great we got to see each other everyday he didn't have to work. and we got to see each other for at least 20 min. at a time. It was the best investment we made.

Hi there! My husband is Air Force and we lucked out and got Aviano AFB in Italy as our first assignment. Deployments are tough on us all, but that's what family and friends are for. I'm a firm believer that military wives are a different breed. Husband hasn't been deployed yet, but cycles are coming up soon I hear.... husband has been TDY 3 times already and we've been in for 2 years.
Had my son in the Air Force base hospital and am so thankful that the military foots the bill! The birthing rooms are all private and they don't take the newborn's to a nursery, they stay in the room with mom the whole time from the moment they're born to the time they leave(3 days). Beautiful facility!
