Anything goes in the dishwasher?

I've never had a dishwasher before, nor a baby. My baby shower was this past weekend so I'm trying to wash all the clothes and bottles that I got so I can start packing our hospital bags and get everything in place for when my son decides to come. The bottles are brand new and I want them clean of course, but are they safe in the dishwasher? I don't have one of those long bottle scrubber things yet, which I need to get one.

I would wash them by hand wih soap and then boil them in hot water for a couple of minutes.we did hat until my son was around 1.now we put his bottles in the dishwasher, the only problem is that they dont stay like brand new. I would also boil the dummys.I know its abit of work to always clean and sterilize them but then you are on the safer side..thats my oppinion. You can also get a sterilze thing that you can use in the microwave(i dont know how they work cuz i never had one)

I always hand washed mine in hot soapy water and rinsed in boiling water. I don't trust dishwashers with everything. I also don't put sharp knives or plastic containers in dishwashers. We do a handwash of handwashables every day :D

honestly i wouldnt put any baby stuff in the dish washer i know that sounds crazy but i tried it and it eventually turned all my nipples and bottles a brownish color they make these things that you fill half way with water place a lid on and put in the microwave for 5 or 6 minutes and it steam cleans everything which is the best way to clean periodically for just normal washing i would do by hand all new stuff should be steamed before use including bottles nipples pacifiers anything and everything i even did the baby toys that it wouldnt hurt teethers and stuff ....i didnt wash any of my sons stuff in the dish washer until he was quite a bit older probably 8 months because i didnt think the cleaner would be good if it got in the bottle and didnt get rinsed all the way out i washed everything by hand and did really really good rinses i didnt want any soap residue left in or on his stuff hope this helps and im sure its all preference im sure there are plenty of people who wash in dishwasher i am a little protective with my son and things going in his mouth or things he could touch so like i said im sure its all preference and totally up to each individual :) hope i helped some GOOD LUCK!!

I don't think I would completely trust the dishwasher with really messy bottles. Mine are brand new and I just want them cleaned and sterilized.

microwaving is actually bad for the baby because microwaves let out radiation the dishwasher is perfectly safe and it comes out sterile already
