We started out daughter with cows milk when just a little bit before 9 months. She did fine on it and her doctor told us they are now starting to find out that it is ok at 9 months to give your child eggs and milk. You just have to watch and make sure things are ok.

I was always told at 1 year of age, but my youngest had a really hard time with the change. It took alot longer for him. I think it really depends on the child. Try it out. I would not just make a total change though. Try half and half. Not so hard on the tiny belly.

i was always taught that when they reach one they can go off of the bottle ( or the boob ) and have reg. milk in a sippy cup. i was told whole milk was best ( but i think thats because my son was little..and it helped him continue to gain weight ) i know if they continue on a bottle it can be bad for their teeth and at one their body is able to break down the cows milk. If you wanted you could always ask your babies dr. Mine told me One. :)

Both my kids have been on cows milk from about 1 and half months old. When I was changing them over from breast milk, I would express and just added an ounce of cows milk to 4/5 ounces of breast milk and gradually changed the quantaties. Saying that, the formula that I use, uses cows milk so I wasn't just sticking them on cows milk alone. I use a home made type of formula, no SMA or Cow and Gate, I personally don't like them. I've had all the comments from midwives, health visitors and doctors but at the end of the day, both my bubs are fine, fit and healthy and that's all that matters!

I know the doctors say about a year, but for both my girls they went to cows milk at about 6 months purely because they just didn't want the formula any more, they would just refuse to drink the formula. I went straight to cows milk (didnt mix half, half) and warmed it slightly to take the chill off it and they lapped it up. I honestly and strongly believe that even though doctors have there opinion about when you should do certain things at the end of the day listen to your child and your heart, if u think it is right do it. every child is unique and nobody knows them better then you... its always worked for me.

My kids were devoloped quickly it seemed to me but i feel every mother will know when their child isnt really getting full. I put my kids on cows milk when they were atlest 10 monthes. My kids by that point were eating by themselves, eating whole foods ( table food) with me. I felt that they were ready and they are both very healthy by all means. It is good to take advice from doctors but doctors only know what they see and what you tell them it would be best to first listen to the intuitions of Dr.Mom.

Both of my sons were a year old when we switched them. They were both on 8 ounces of formula when it was time to switch I would fill there bottle with 6 oz. of formula and then top off with the cows milk. Did that for about a week to make sure his stomach could handle the cow's milk. Then every week after that I moved it up 2oz until he had a full bottle of cow's milk. I have heard though some people are able to just go straight to cows milk which is great if you could do that but my boys their stomach was way to sensitive.

Doctors and pretty much everyone said to start after 1 year.. i started about a week or two before my daughters 1st birthday. I would give her 1/2 milk and 1/2 formula, than 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula than straight to milk. She liked it warmed up a lil when it was close to nap times nut now she just drinks it cold.
