At what age do you transition a toddler from a crib to toddler bed

[deleted account]

Their is no certain age, all children are different as long as your child isnt attempting to get out of their crib which is going to make them hurt theirselves or as long as they arent too big for their crib then thers no need to transition them. My 20 month old son has been walking since he was 9 months old and running since he was 10 months old and as soon as he became active as he is extremely energetic and never sits still i had to transition him to a toddler bed which was when he was about 8 or 9 months with the rails of course and he's never fallen out or anything of that nature.

i had a 5 in one crib but we dropped the bed low about 12 months and took the rail down about 16 months (when she figured out how to climb out her bed) and now at 2 she has a twin hide-a-way bed with a bed rail of course

hi, I put my kid on a bed when he was 15 months. No bed rails need it, theres is this baby safety bed belt that helps the transition crib-bed . I found it on ebay under the description BABY DREAMS -Safety bed belt for babies. Great deal ! they can move while sleeping, the safety belt just stops the baby come close to the edge of the bed. In my experience best thing ever, didn´t have to buy travel cribs or anything. We travel a lot so the safety belt was great for traveling is compatible with any type of bed.

I never used a crib at 6 months baby goes from the cradle in my room to the toddler bed it is a day bed style so we put the open end against the wall until they try to crawl out then we turn it around at 2 years old they get a twin bed haven't had any problems doing it this way I tried a crib with my oldest but I have problems with my wrists that were worsened with lifting baby in and out of the crib

i would recommend 14 months or 17 months but never younger then 14 is your toddler has a disability try cutting the crib's bars how you want.

i put my daughter in her toddler bed at 13 months and she wasn't sure about it at first because she really was attached to her crib.. the first couple nights were rough with her getting out of bed and a few times she fell out of her bed so I had to put pillows on the floor next to her bed.. but after a coupe days she did great and has been doing great since

Moved my son into a regular bed at 18 months he loved it. my daughter will be about the same or a little sooner

I moved my daughter at 22 months. She went to a twin mattress on the floor. I didn't want to buy a toddler bed and another mattress (I was pregnant at the time). My daughter was happy in her crib. But I wanted her used to her new bed before her brother came. I have a water proof fitted sheet to protect the mattress from any accidents at night.

I moved my daughter out a bit after she turned 2 we found out we were going to have a baby and I saw her trying to climb out of the crib several times and was scared she would fall out. 25 months was about the age she moved out of it. She loves her big girl bed and I went to walmart and let her pick out her own bedding and she hasn't had too many problems other then she fell out a few times. She is in a twin bed.

We waited a long time to move my daughter--she was nearly 3, but she never tried to crawl out of the crib, which is one of the usual reasons to transition from crib to bed. Since we got a toddler bed for free, and my daughter will be nearly 4 when her sister is born, we've used the toddler bed, which I've really liked, largely since the crib mattress we use in it is far more water-resistant than a regular twin, and we've had lots of night-time potty training issues. When we move the baby to a crib (probably around 3-4 months old, so give or take 4-5 months from now), we'll probably buy a twin mattress for my older daughter.

I Agree with Liz.Toddler Beds are unnecessary.Twin beds work just fine and it actually costs less for the transition in the end.No more crib sheets. All you need is a rail from target or walmart (they are less than $25) if you want extra safety measures in place. My son was about 13 months when he started sleeping in his Twin bed.He did great and loves his bed.So yeah Totally, it is great all the way around.

My boys all moved into a twin sized bed around 18 months (largely because I needed the crib for their new siblings and refused to buy another!) They all did fine. I didn't put them in a toddler bed just because it seemed like an unnecessary transition in my opinion. My third son is very active, and I started him out on a mattress on the floor, then eventually put a box spring underneath it. The biggest problem, of course, is KEEPING them in the bed. I have to put a gate on my youngest son's door still (he is 2.5) to keep him at least in his room. I have a friend with a 13 month old son that she just moved to a toddler bed and she said he is doing well.

We moved my 5 year old at 16 months and our 2 year old at 14. We never had any issues with either of them getting up.
