My daughter had colic and was verryyy clingy. She is 27months now and sleeps by herself no problems. This technique worked for me, it depends on all sorts of situations. Cry it out, it hurts to hear them cry but it works. Start with doing your routine as usual then explain its bed time and tell her all the wonderful things shes going to do when she wakes up then say goodnight and you will be in the next room and not to worry. She will cry but her do this for 5 mins then go in and say its ok and comfort her but do not pick her up. leave again and let her cry for 10 mins and the go back and do the same as before. Then leave again for 15mins and hopefully she should be settled. if not go inand repeat then let her cry for 20 mins. You are checking on her so she is reassured but at the same time showing her your are a big girl and can sleep by yourself. I hope this works for you. I also read to her and give her a sticker :)
