hmm....I would say if he is happy to play in his bed I would just leave him to play. I know it still keeps you up, but maybe he will figure out that it is night time and time to sleep.

If he is fussy and won't lay in his bed that is a hard one. Try making sure the last nap for the day time does not go pass 3:30/4:00 pm. If you can try to get outside time during the day (fresh air always helps to tire them out).

If he is waking just to play doing the cry it out might also be something to try. I know REALLY hard to listen to, but it might help change the pattern.

Have you started doing solids during the day?

Another thing you can try too is to make sure she is waking because she is hungry. I remember my youngest when she started weaning off those middle of the night feedings would wake, but would not always be hungry. First I would wait a few minutes to see if she would go back to sleep (sometimes she would). If she did not then I would try offering her other things first (rock, pacifier, blanket) sometimes that is all she wanted. Sometimes she was hungry, but I would do that after everything else.
