Baby teeth not coming through in the normal order??????

[deleted account] ( 8 moms have responded )

At 5 1/2 months my son got his two bottom teeth through within a week of each other. My boy is now 6 1/2 months and has been very very grizzly lately so i have been waiting for more to come through. Today i noticed that one of his lower side teeth has come through. I always thought that after the bottom teeth a baby is suppost to get the two top then the two top sides then the bottom sides. Please help me, is this normal for my son to get them in this order??????

Hahaha - they love to keep us guessing don't they? All three of my kids got their teeth out of order - and all in a different way from each other. And the daughter of a friend of mine got one front tooth and one molar as her first teeth - anything is possible! Don't worry though, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong. It is called "cross-cutting", and according to the old wives tale it is more painful than getting teeth in the typical order, but I don't understand how that could be!

Glad to hear all of this... I've got a 4 1/2 month old who is teething and it looks like. Top incisor.. Which seemed really strange but it there doesn't have to be a pattern it makes me feel SO much better

stop worrying! surely, as long as your child is getting teeth that's the main thing?? it doesnt matter what order they come in.

My little girls came in a different order too. Plus, she didn't get her first tooth until she was 10 months old. No worries. I think that normal isn't that normal at all.

My daughters teeth came in all out of order. She got her bottom 2 then she got 4 molars! And finally just before Christmas she got 4 top front teeth. Now at 18 months she has 4 more coming in!!!
She didn't start getting teeth until 9 months!!! Cross cutting is becoming more of the norm these days it seems!!! But it is no cause to worry!!!

My daughter had no teeth until she was 14 months and I was concerned! My doctor told me she would have all her teeth by the time she was 2. Sure enough (she's 4 now) by the age 2 she had a full mouth of teeth. So, I wouldn't worry...
