Baby wakes up every 2 hours at night

My son is 4 months old and every once in a while he will sleep through the night or have 4-6 hour spans. Lately though he has been waking either every hour or every 2 hours and I don't know what to do for him. He has a tiny bit of cereal in his bottle to fill him up more but I'm not sure why he doesn't want to sleep more? He is very active during the day usually takes 2-3 naps that are necessary. The doctor gave me the okay with the cereal in the bottle since he is a bigger baby. I also give him his night time bath with the Johnson and Johnson bedtime bath and lotion. Anyone go through the same thing or any ideas?

I went through the same thing with my son. He was a big boy @ 11lb 4oz. I figured that it was mostly because he was so big that he was just hungry all the time. My Pediatrician told me that by 7mo their liver is developed enough to sustain them through the night. I waited until I weened him(he was weened by 1st b-day), then I started training him to sleep through the night. When he'd wake up I'd go in, pat his back or something, but never pick him up. I didn't stay in his room more than a few mins. I repeated this in 5min, then 10 min, then 15. He cried a lot but the Dr. told me to expect this. It only took a couple days and he's been sleeping great ever since. So Maybe in a couple months if this is continuing you could give it a try. Sometimes I think it's more out of habit that they wake up. Blessings with your little one... drop me a note if you need to talk more!
