HELP!!! My darling daughter who is 8 months old has diarrhea. She is breastfed and starting on solids and I'm not sure if it is something I'm eating or if it's something she is eating. I've tried cutting out the foods and slowly reintroducing them. The doctor says to just keep trying and gave me an Rx of zinc oxide for her bottom. Her bottom is beet red and I just want to cry with her when I have to change her diaper. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone else had problems introducing solids to their child?

when my son was a baby he would get this diaper rash that would bleed I tried using everything from the store and it would not go way so I took him to the doctor and they gave me a prescription for this stuff that was great its called (NYSTATIN OINTMENT USP) or it might be called (FOUGERA) that was the best stuff, and also watch what she eats and drinks something she is eating and drinking could be giving her to much acid and when she uses the bathroom it could be burning her my daughter had that so I had to put her on a diet for a when until her acid levels went down.

For preventing diarrhea try apples, bananas, and rice cereal (the ABC diet).

For the skin I used magic butt cream on my son (you have to get a prescription or you can make it at home), which is pretty awesome.

Sometimes putting nothing on helps too. I wash my son's skin with mild soap and water, dry well, then put on the diaper and make sure to change it as soon as he pees or poos. Occasionally I add a little Aveeno lotion. I find that the creams with zinc oxide or petroleum jelly tend to seal moisture in and the skin gets worse.

Sweet potato and carrot baby food gave my daughter really bad diaper rash. I use A&D Ointment on her, and I swear by it...It works very well for her. It's thick like vasiline so it blocks the urine and poop from her skin. Maybe that would help.

When my daughter had a horrible diaper rash, i bought this stuff that was in a tube and started with a B. I am not exactly sure how its spelled but its sounds something like BEUDROS.Bought it at walmart. Washed her up, dried her, let her run around bottomless (only for like 1/2 hr, you don't want her have an accident, and the air helps her). Then right before you put the diaper back on you use that cream. It really helps.

Quoting Krista:

She may be teething, cutting her first two teeth, so that may be part of the problem also!!
