Hi i'm just wondering at what age children can start having bad dreams? My 10month old woke the other night screaming and it took alot for me to get her to settle down again. This is not like her and something she has never done before! Could it be a nightmare? Any advice? Thanks

My pediatrician told me that as soon as babies have something to be afraid of, they can have a bad dream. I.E. they experience a loud sound, Mommy leaving, the dark, whatever can all cause a nightmare in an infant.

I'm not too sure either, but my daughter at that age would wake up every now and again, she'd be really upset, and crying, but wasn't really aware of what was going on. I would find her sitting, standing or in crawling position in her crib crying. All I would do was lay her back down and tuck her in, and she'd already be back to sleep.

Hey, has she been unwell im asking this coz if children have high temps they can have Night Terrors but im not sure how young they are when they start.. bascially a night terror is when they are awake but not alert and it takes them a bit to settle down you really need to comfort them and they cant remember what it was about i know my daughter has them every now and then when shes unwell! But nightmares in general i dont think come at certain age it could be from someone playing peek a boo and scarying them! hope this has helped a bit if not sorry!
