Okay, my son is four months old now. I have an infant tub that has the little hammock in it to lie on. When do I take that out and let him actually sit in the water?

You can start bathing him in the kitchen sink for a while. That's the easiest way to do it when they are just learning to sit up because it's easier to hold him steady with one arm while you are standing up. Or you could take baths with him and hold him up between your knees.

we had a fancy 3 in 1 infant tub but what we ended u doing was to just put a small towel in our tub and put water in the tub and let him lay there instead of trying to hold him up (the towel helps because they don't slip and slide all over the place)- my husband still uses the towel (and our son is almost 10 months) he feels safer using it that way when they can sit up they feel like a "big boy" in the big bath tub but they cant slip
Good luck

They have special tubs that either attach to the tub or don't that allow your child to sit up but they cant move around and slip and slide and possibly hurt themselves. As long as your child is strong enough to hold their head up they can sit in the seat freely. I'd have to say until around 8 months or so depending on how fast your child moves around, will be the mark where you don't have to hold them up by yourself.

you can buy a seat for him now if you want. You will still have to support him with one arm though.

As long as you are there and he can support his head. Obviously you'll have to be holding him the whole time (im assuming he's not sitting up yet..) but he'll love it!!
