Bedtime Woes

My 18 month old was sleeping really well, allnight long and also going to bed great! Until the last 2 weeks or so, he now fights going to bed almost every night. After trying to cry it out for a while i'll give in and let him sit on my lap at the table and he'll eat crackers and milk then go to bed. Before trying to put him to bed the first time he had a snackand refused anymore. Am I just not feeding him enough or is he starting to develop a really bad habit?

maybe you should start a new routine with him instead of letting him sit on you lap and have a snack...let him sit on your lap and read him a story give him a bottle while you read the story. thats what we do with our oldest. I put him to bed and daddy comes in and tucks him in and then he rolls over and goes to sleep and he will be 2 on friday!

Childhood obesity is not an issue we have. At 18 months he's 18 lbs. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Hopefully we'll get a better schedule soon.

Bad habit, he keeps crying cause he knows you will give in. And if hes finished the first snack and refused he doesnt need another. There is a rise in childhood obesity, and hes only 18months now but you are starting a bad habit with 2 snacks. We dont even feed our kids snacks at all.

your son is probably just going through a phase right now, im sure his sleep pattern will settle back to normal in a few weeks, my son has the exact same issue with bathtime and bedtime...most times he loves his bath but sometimes he acts like he is terrified of water, but he'll be ok if one of us gets in the tub with him. My sons sleep pattern changes also after he's had a bout of illness like an ear infection or the flu...thats the time he screams when we set him down in bed, if i feel like he not tired il pick him up again but if i know he's tired i let him cry it out, usually only lasts a few minutes but sometimes up to 10mins....but he usually begins to sleep through the night again after a week or two. i cant comment about the snack issue, i just wish my son would have a snack before bed so maybe he wouldnt wake up so ravernous
