I'm 20 weeks with second child and last week I went for an ultrasound and the sonographer said its a boy then yesterday I went to the doctor and he did a quick scan and he zoomed into the private area and there were 3 very clear and distinct lines and said its a girl. I need to know but don't know who to believe. What do I do??

I was told it was a girl at 13 weeks. My 21 week untrasound revealed a boy. It was a HUGE inconvenience, we painted the room lavender and I had a full blown girl baby shower. My 13 week nurse said OH YES 99 percent girl!!! I realize now they are all girls until the penis appears. I'm hving a boy and I was ready for a girl, I don't trust it until he or she comes out. Seriously. Feeling blessed to have a healthy baby in my belly, but really, c'mon... she could have said 75 percent.

Really? Why did they confuse the girl for boy ? I went Wednesday for an ultrasound and they said 99 percent girl now I'm curious lol. Could the baby boys part grow slower than others ? My grama is not buying that my baby is a girl lol

I would say it is a girl.
Girls can be mistaken for boys as their bits can be swollen.
Get another scan if you can.

I would be more inclined to side with the ultrasound tech, since they're trained to know what to look for. See if they will wait a few weeks and schedule you for another.

I agree with Gemma. If a 4D won't show, you will probably keep getting different answers at an ultrasound unless it's an experienced technician who has a lot of experience in situations with the placenta like yours. But I would just get gender neutral to be safe. Sorry though, I know when you want to know and get 2 different answers it can be frustrating.

If a 4D scan can't see what your baby is I don't think a re scan will help. Buy neutral coloured clothes and you will have a surprise.

They tried to do a 4d scan but because i have an anterior placenta the baby is too squashed to be able to even tell where its face is the poor thing. thanks so much alisia :) should i just ask for a re scan?

I had the same thing happen to me with my 2nd daughter. I was told boy then a few weeks later told a girl. We went and got a 4d done and sure enough, they said girl! If you really want to be sure I suggest 4d plus it's such a great experience and the pictures are priceless.
