I am pregnant with my third and my older kids will be 20 months and 4yo when the new LO arrives. I am wondering what people like to use for a 3 passenger stroller. I have had a front and back double stroller that I hated because it was too hard to push. I like my side by side jogging stroller enough. I also have used the kind where one child sits and one stands and my oldest really didn't like it. I know I can use a sling carrier with the double stroller for a few months until the baby gets too big. What do you use for 3 young children? Please list pros/cons of what you've used.

Why do all three of your kids need to ride? How often do you expect to need to push all three? My 3 kids are 5, 3, and 1. We have a nice double-stroller, and have never needed anything else. My oldest is capable of walking, and if he gets tired (at the zoo or something), he can switch out with my middle child, or I'll sit my youngest on the handbar for a few minutes. If you really think you need something for all three, you might look into a stroller that has a 3rd child add-on. The double stroller we use is the Baby Jogger City Series Double, and you can add a little stand-on thingy (might be called a glider board, or standing platform) for a 3rd child to ride too. A friend of mine, with the same stroller, has a 3 year old and twins and it works for her.

I would say with the ages of your kids I would not buy a 3 passenger stroller. Your double will be fine. Plus triplet strollers are not cheap. I do daycare and do have a 3 passenger stroller...in general the heavier the kids the harder/heavier it is to push. The 4yr old is old enough to walk. What I do is those that are under the age of 2 yrs are in the stroller, the ones that are 2 and over walk holding onto the stroller. When I go somewhere I usually have 5 kids with me....3 that are under 2 yrs old and are in the stroller and 2 that are older and are holding onto the stroller. I have done this for many years and have had no problems doing it this way. The older ones are taught right from the start to hold onto the stroller. I will remind them if their hand goes off and we stop until they are holding the stroller again. I have found it to be easiest to have one child on each side of the stroller that way they are not tripping on each other and they don't fight.

If you are using the stroller for exercise what you could do is have the 4 yr old ride his/her bike as you jog along.

Thank you for the advice. I was considering a 3 passenger stroller because I live close to town but there is a small stretch of street before you get to where the sidewalk starts that I don't feel comfortable having them walk. I like the bike idea. We have been considering buying him a bike anyway. The stand-on thingy also sounds like a reasonable idea.
