Best age difference between child #1...#2??

My husband has a large family with all of them being around 18months apart. My mother-in-law says it was a good age and they all got along with the new baby at that young age still. Honestly, I have no idea how she survived having 7 children at the age gap.

On the other hand, I was the youngest of the family and my sister was 8years apart and my brother was 13years apart from me. I hated that growing up because once my sister was out of the house, I felt like an only child.

So, after having our first daughter I thought I wanted my next to be closer in age. My daughter was 22months when my son was born and it hasbeen crazy but fun. My husband and I are still a little unsure if we want to have another child just because of the chaos we go through with two children close in age. Just wanted to know what you all think is a good age to have baby #2?...#3?...etc...

My boy is 21months older than my girl, and i found that age gap perfect for us. Now by boy is nearly 4 and my girl 2 and they are the bestest of friends, for sure they bicker n fight, but they would never fall out for long. I am now pregnant with our third (unplanned) and will be due new yrs eve. so the age gap will be a 4yr 2month and 2 n hlf yr old. thankfully my lil girl is very clever and to me she seems already half a yr older than wot she is.

Looking back i wonder what was going through my mind about having my 1st two that close, although it is perfect. i just could never imagine 21months between 2 and 3. I think its just a bit daunting. BUT on the other hand i have heard from many women who have 3, 4 or even 5 kids that the adjustment between 1 and 2 was the hardest. yeah 3 made u readjust some, but #3 just had to fit in with every1 elses routine etc. so normally slotted into place.

I like the close age gap for the pure fact that they ARE close to each and can be interested in the same things. My mom has 4 girls and ages are 27, 24 and me 22 and then 15. although my 15yr old sister makes a gr8 babysitter, i find it easier to do stuff with my other sisters, we have always had the closeness. and my lil sister feels bit left out being the only 1 left at home under our moms rules etc. so i have sworn to myself if we ever have an ooopsie many yrs down the line then soon will follow another child, so they are not alone. Fingers crossed no oopsies good luck. im sure whatever u decide will work well for u.

Mine are 17 months apart and I love it. I want to get pregnant again when my my oldest son is about 3 and ahalf so he'll be in kindergarden when the baby comes and ill have more time.

My first and second born are four years apart. My second and third are only 18 months apart. It was a lot harder with the last one. My second still wore diapers and he was a lot more clingy. It got to be tough to do anything for the baby.

My oldest will be 3 in aug., my 2nd is 14 months and my youngest is 2 months. I think my oldest 2 are a great space. it was a lot easier, because my oldest can help himself better and was walking, which makes it a lot easier. It's hard having one that is crawling and one that you have to hold all the time. They are all very close to each other and love each other very much. and they are all too young to have any sort of jealousy so it worked out really nicely.

I only have 2 and they are 18 months apart and it's a great age gap! They are older now and are so close (now they are 4 and 2 1/2). My closest brother was about 4 1/2 years older than me and we are just now, as adults becoming close.

i think it depends a lot on how far spaced you were with your siblings. my husband and i both want to wait a bit longer than that to have a second baby but both of us are 5+ years different than our siblings.
