I had my 32 week (+3days) Scan and the babies AC measures over the 95th centile and the babies weight is 5lb 11.5oz, does this mean he will be early? my first (daughter) was born at 39 weeks 4 days and weighted just 7lb 3oz so im hoping not to have a too big of baby lol Thanks in advance for all comments

my son scanned at 8lbs @ 38 weeks - and was born 10 days late weighing 11lb 7oz.
im not trying to scare you but a bigger baby does NOT mean you cant at least try for a natural delivery or that youll go into labour, babies will be what theyre meant to be and ill come when theyre ready!
If anything in my experience bigger babies are easier to push out anyway!!! hehe

Good luck!

the ultra sound machines are always wrong, at least for every mom i know. I had to have an emergency c section at 35 weeks and 4 days due to toximia and they did the ultrasound the night before and said he was a little over 6pds..he only weighed 4pds 14ozs! Dont worry he might be early but your body will let you know!

hey jade, try not to worry the ultrasounds can be way off either way, with my first baby girl they did an ultrasound two days before she arrived and they told me she was going to be 7pounds and she came out 8 pounds 4. so you can imagine my suprise when they weighed her lol, she was out in 52mins with no drugs and no tearing or cutting at all.
with my littleboy who is 11wks old(: i told them i didnt want to know how big they thought he was going to be when they did the ultrasound because i knew they can get it wrong, i did feel quite big with him and he came out 9 pounds 8!!! he was out in 14mintues and that was with no drugs, tearing or cutting at all either, i found with him my tummy was always measuring bigger by about three weeks everytime they did the fundal height measurement so maybe have a look at what your fundal height measurement is... anyway just try and enjoy your pregnancy and not worry even if you have a big baby it doesnt always mean a more difficult labor as you can see by me xxx good luck

Dont worry at all, i had my first daughter naturally with only gas and air and she was 10lb. They thought that she was going to be about 8lb or so as far as my growth chart said. I found that as she was bigger to begin with, she didn't feed as oftem as i'd immagine a smaller baby would have done. I breast fed her and she has thrived. Whatever size you baby arrives at, i hope that he is healthy. Best of luck with everything.

I just had my 32 wk ultrasound because I have GD and they told me she weighs 5lbs 9oz and is in the 95% ...this is my 2nd child and my first only weighed 7.8 so I'm worried they are going to push me to deliver early and have a CS ....I am terrified

For my 3.5 year old they said he was going to be huge around 9 pounds at the time they were guessing... He was 10lbs 10 ounces no c-section. So the ultra sound machine was right he was huge. Then for my 11 month old the ultra sound machine said he was going to be huge they induced me for medical reasons 2 weeks early and he weighed 7lbs 7ounces so far the smallest of my three. Now I'm having ultra sounds saying this baby is going to be huge maybe even bigger then my oldest was and I'm 35 weeks and 5 days right now.
So the machines can be right or they can be wrong. As long as the baby is born healthy it shouldn't be a problem. Good Luck! :)

I was told I was going to have a big baby. I got told that my bub was in the 95th percentile and he was going to be 10pounds. I was prepared to have a big baby. I was 6 days overdue and in the end had to have an emergency c-section but my son was 8pound9

It doesn't mean he will be early. My son was 10 pounds 7 ounces at birth and I had to have a c-section after I passed my due date. And others are right, they can be off. I was told second children do tend to be bigger because your body is better at making a baby since you've already done it once. But that doesn't mean that this baby will be huge. My son was over 10 pounds at birth and I pregnant with another boy, so they are expecting him to be big since my first was.

My baby boy would've been a big baby if he was born on time but he arrived at 35 weeks weighing 6lb 11oz

Ive been Midwifes today and she told me to wait to see what my consultant decides to do about the scan results, she thinks he may make me have the horrible GTT test again, but i dont mind aslong as they make sure he is healthy :) Thank you for all your comments as they have made me a little less worried about it all lol just cant help but worry abit :)

i agree with kimberly.
one of my girlfriends was told her daughter was going to be 6lbs, she was 9.2
another was told 8lbs, he was 6.13
I was never told any of that information, and now im thankful since both of my daughters were over 8lbs. one was 8.4 the other was 8.15
i wouldnt have wanted to go in knowing i was having a small baby and come out with a big baby or be freaking out that the baby was going to be too big for my body to handle!
i say dont worry about it hun, just so long as you and baby are healthy and doing well. thats all that matters in the long run.
good luck!

just because they may be bigger doesnt mean they will be premature. My daughter was premature at 5lb8oz at 35.5 weeks, and they thought she was about 7 pounds already (the previous scan at 29 weeks was estimate 3 pounds) so they were way out when i was admitted at 35 weeks. My partner was born 11 pounds full term, a friend was 13lb full term and my sister in laws eldest was born 15 days late, weighing 9lb9oz and the second was 8lb14oz 1 week early...my sister was 2 and a half weeks early with her youngest and he was 9lb2oz. Once you hit 37 weeks you are no longer concidered having a prem baby, as they were hoping that i would last another week before having to induce me, as i had complications. It doesnt matter what size they are as to if they will come early or not. Its a choice that your body makes and u never know how big they really are untill they come, when they decide to come.

I went natural with 9 lbs 3 oz. and only 1 stitch. So long as your pelvis opens wide enough to pass baby through the birth canal you should be good to go !

My mom pushed me out at 10lbs 3 oz.

My ultrasounds were off, too. Said i'd have an 8+ pound baby. He was barely over 7. I knew a gal who had a natural birth with a 9 pound baby. So, it's possible to have natural with a bigger baby. But my ultrasound said my kids both were bigger than what they ended up.

In my experience, an ultrasound can be REALLY off. I had a scan at about 32 weeks and was told my baby was looking at being around 7 1/2 lb based on its measurements and growth patterns, and my daughter was born 5lb 2 oz. They really can be WAY off. It certainly isn't an accurate science.

Thanks for all your lovely comments, ive just been soo worried as i would like another natural labour rather than having a c section (last option), ive also been in alot of pain with this pregnancy so im just hoping when he does decide to enter the world he will be a nice healthy baby :)

Big babies arent so bad ! Logan was 9lbs 3oz ! born 26 minutes after his due date :) I had always measured a bit bigger during my pregnancy. I dont think size is an indicator that he will be early.

I started effacing and dilating by 35 weeks ( was 50 % and 1- 1 1/2 cm) and doc was like " hold that baby in ! we might be premature here" well i carried full term but continued to dilate to 7 cm and 80 % without going into labour. The doc offered to bust my bag =P and i opted to get it over with !

So what i am getting at, is regardless of size, effacement, dilating and a bunch of other stuff, that baby wont come till it is good and ready.

Just keep cooking that butterball and aim for health. Better to have a big baby than an underweight one :)

The ultrasound can be off by 1-2 lbs (more or less). Don't worry about it. They always told me my daughter was small, but she was born on her due date and weighed 7 lbs 2oz, so very normal size.

Bless ur heart...I know ur worried...When I was pregnant with my son, they told me he was gnna be a big baby since his father weighed 12 lbs. at birth and I was so happy i was having a c-section lol...I went for my 32 wk checkup and they told me that my baby already weighed almost 8 lbs.!!! I was freaking out cuz I still had 8 wks to go and was afraid none of the clothes we has already bought wouldnt fit...he ended up coming at 36 wks and weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz so those ultrasound machines can sometimes be wrong!!! Good luck!!!
