just a thought my son is 10 months old and starting to take steps i know that this is still too young to convert the crib but i feel like he can probably get out of the crib if he wanted scary i know! when is the best time to convert? any ideas?

I would leave it for as long as it is safe to do so. My daughter is 14 nearly 15 months old and she is still in her cot. All children are differnt if you really believe that your child could climb out then the safest thing to do would be transition them to a big bed. Even just a mattress on the floor for the first few months so there is a less of a risk of injury from falling out of a bed. Goodluck

have you thought about putting him in a sleeping-bag (you know the baby ones) to sleep, then he wont be able to climb. We introduced our daughter to a mattress on the floor when she was 18 months old, then moved her to a proper bed when she was 2. Reason for moving her when she was 18 months was new baby arrived when she was 19 months. We didn't want her thinking the cot belonged to her so the baby couldnt have it. Also kept the cot in her room while she was sleeping on the mattress.
