i think it is. doctors recommend the bottle stops at 2 in order to keep the teeth from growing in weird. to get him off the bottle, you can either gradually replace bottle feedings with a cup or you can just throw out the bottles completely so that he has no choice. when he gets hungry or thirsty he will drink

Yes 3 is pretty old to still be taking a bottle. Throw all the bottles away and only offer the sippy cup. You may have to deal with some whinning and crying, but once he realizes that he is not getting the bottle it will pass. At 3 yrs old I am usually transitioning them to the regular cup, so you may want to try that. At 3 yrs old he should not be needing a bottle in the middle of the night. That is more out of habit then need. Don't offer the bottle at night instead rub his back or offer a sip from his sippy cup...each night make it less and less WATER ONLY.....Milk will cause tooth decay.

Try giving him a sippy for bed with water in it instead. Then when your ready to stop a night time sippy cup put less water in every night for a few nights and don't refill it when its gone. I did this with my kids and it worked really well but they were done with a bottle at 1. My son still slept with an empty cup for about a week but he got over it. Its harder when kids are older from everything I've heard but you just gotta do it. Good luck

keep his mind off it as best as you can and try to give him water just before bed if he still has a bed bottle

3 is too old, I'm sure you have sippy cups too, so just take it away. Have him throw the bottles away with you and be prepared for a rough couple of days.

I do think 3 is a bit old for a bottle, mainly because I'm concerned about tooth development. You don't want her to have the bottle shift her teeth around unnecessarily Maybe you could even forgo sippy cups completely and put her right on a cup. It'll be more difficult at first, but she might like drinking out of the same kind of cup as mom and dad. My son (20 mos.) always wants to drink out of a regular cup,

my daughter had her fair share of ups and downs with the bottle. While my son was off the bottle at 9mo she used a bottle until she was 4yrs. I think a lot of it is the security and comfort the bottle brings the child. I encouraged her by filling up her sippy cups and telling her it was her big girl cup and when she was ready to be a big girl she could through away her bottle and use the sippy. By the child throwing the bottle away them selves they get that sense of confidence rather then it getting taken away from them.
