Before you put anything on your nipples, ask yourself, IS IT SAFE FOR MY BABY TO INGEST??? My nipples cracked, bled, scabbed and pussed. I really feel your pain, but there was numerous articles about so called 'ipple balms' for breastfeeding moms. Be careful. When I went to my doctor he said that the safest thing to use is actually your own breastmilk. It is rich in antibodies and is safe for your baby to ingest.

I know its tough, but believe me, it gets easier, and so worth it! GOOD LUCK

I used Lansinoh and liked it. I think Medela makes one as well that you could try. Is there a particular reason you don't like Lansinoh? Maybe ask a Lactation consultant what you should use b/c you don't want to use something that may have a chemical in it that you aren't aware of that could harm your baby w/out you even knowing it. I would be VERY careful w/ lotions or creams that do not specify that they can be used for cracked or bleeding nipples. Also, you should definately use a nipple shield while you are having this problem or a breast pump. You should NOT nurse your baby while you are having the bleeding problem. I was told that by a lactation consultant when I had the problem. I also was told that part of the reason why I had the cracked and bleeding nipples was because he was not latched properly. So, that could be another problem that you are having that is causing it, so I would definately check out what a Lactation Consultant says. La Leche is a good place to start. Good Luck and buy yourself a nipple shield.

I used a nursing balm called Aleva Naturals, and it worked good for me. Its Lanolin and purfume free, which is great if you have allergies. The brand also makes a 'breathe easy' cream that helps when your baby has a congested nose. They also make a few other products for babies. Check out the web site to find out more

my nipples were so sore and cracked, i was the same and used to cry while feeding my son and eventually gave up after only 3 weeks but when i had my daughter i was determined to keep breastfeeding so when it got painful and the lansinoh cream just wasn't enought i called the lactation consultant and she told me to express for 24hours and to give my nipples and breasts a rest and after just 24 hours i was pain free! i realise this won't work for everyone and many ppl say that expressing can slow ur milk production and everything but it worked for me and im still breastfeeding after 10 months!

also try the hard nipple shilds, express brestmilk on nipples and rub it in let it dry and use the shilds to keep clothing from rubbing and lets them dry..also the soft shilds for feeding really help and i believe you can get them from target or if you have WIC where your at the lactation consultant should have some for you..Good Luck and stick with it..it pays off in the long run for the both of you!!

At one point in the middle of the night that I lost my Lansinoh, I used neosporin pain relief..worked wonderfully but you have to wash your breasts thoroughly before feeding the baby! Hope they get better!

i had really bad cracked and bleeding nipples and they were so painful it made me kick my feet and cry everytime my baby girl ate. i talked to a lactation consultant and she told me to use the lansinoh ointment and to get a nipple shield. it is mostly used to draw out flat nipples but can also be used for cracked and bleeding nipples. it is like a nipple condom and you put it over your nipple and they eat with it on. it eliminated the friction of thier mouth on your raw nipple so it can heal. i only needed to wear it for a week and all healed. mine were still a little sore when i stopped using it but nowhere near what they were when i started using it. i got mine at baby depot in burlington coat factory. but i am sure you can find them in babies r us as well. but i could not find them at walmart or walgreens.

Try palmer's coco butter it rubs in a little quicker so you don't feel gooped up, or try putting breast milk on them to help them heal a little quicker. but as expensive as that lansinoh is it really is the best because if the baby ingests it, it won't cause any harm.
