I have breastfed exclusively from birth with my son, who is now almost 10 months old. He still wakes every 2.5 - 3.5 hours every night. About two months ago my breast stopped leaking and I didn't think anything of it, though thought I would try formula incase he was not getting enough milk, and this was the case. I only gave him formula two weeks ago now and going strong. But my problem is, he has dropped eating his solids dramatically, he loves his food though now he prefers the bottle and barely eating. What do I do? Do I give him less milk though this is not recommended? I have tried feeding him first before a bottle and he is being more than difficult and fussy and ends up having his bottle only. He is a small baby, he was born 2.5 kg and a cute shorty, now he weighs almost or on about 8 kgs. I'm stressing out!!!! Is he getting enough nutrients by having more formula than solids? Or do I cut back? All comments much appreciated and needed.

I hate bottles too! Takes so much time sterilising and preparing all the time, though he loves it. I tried one formula he didn't want a drop of it hated it, he is on s26 and loves it but I have a problem, he has wind. For the first time ever he would have slept all through the night last night but wakes with wind winges and goes back to sleep. He didn't want a bottle at all through the night I couldn't believe it, but he still waking from the wind. I think I'm going to put some gripe water in his night time bottle before bed and see if this helps. I really looking forward to giving him normal milk. So you gave your full cream milk at ten months?? And all ok no reactions that's great

I quit beastfeeding my daughter when she was nine months old. The Dr recommended putting her on formula. I tried put she hated it. So I just gave her whole milk in a little glass with a straw. Because I hate botttles and she did fine. Just go with ur gut feeling.

Well I took her off baby food almost completely cause I can't get her to eat it. She eats mainly finger foods cause that's all she wants I still try to give her other things that are mashed but don't have much luck. Like your lo she wants to feed herself and I have a lot of trouble getting her to let me feed her. I totally understand what you mean by worry cause it seems like that's all I do lol she is my first baby and my second is due at the end of next month.

A worried mother always trying to feed him haha and I get frustrated when my mum and mother in law always trying to feed him, and I doing the same, funny that.
Can I ask, obviously each baby is different but how much does your little one end up eating?
Thanks so much for posting!! It's nice to hear it from someone else : )

Hi Jessica
I thought that would be the case. I do offer him milk with food instead of water as he loves water and will drink a whole bottle! I know milk is main source of what they need for first year, and yes we do that he loves eating at the table with us. He now is fighting with me to feed himself and not liking me to feed him, which has phased out all puréed foods now and onto pieces which he's loving, but it was good as I knew he was getting a good amount of veges in his purees. Ok ok I will try and relax a bit, some days are better than others, maybe I just need to take it as it comes and just go with what he wants, if he's hungry he'll eat, if he wants a bottle bottle it is. I'm just being a worries mother

My 10 month old is like that too. She wants bottle more often than food so what I do is make sure when I eat she is sitting with me and has a plate too. I also put her formula in a sippy cup and offer it to her as a drink while eatting. It works some but not always. The doc says she still needs quite a bit of formula till she is a year of age and the eatting is to teach her how to chew and swallow so I was told not to worry to much at this point. I hope this was some what helpful I wish you luck.
