Hi,

My son is 16 months old and over the last few weeks has developed some small spots around his penis. I thought it may be due to the fact that his nappy is getting really full at night, so changed the brand to a 12 hour absorbancy one. Nothing seems to have changed. It might be nappy rash but we never wait until his nappy is full before changing it and when he soils his nappy its always changed immediately.

We let him walk round with out a nappy on several times a day to help get some air to his skin. Plus he's got excema so we never use anything with fragrance in on his skin or to wash his clothes.

Has any one got any suggestions as to what it could be?

Thanks a lot

My son is 9 months n I saw a few red slightly raise bumps on his testicles n now on his penis. I wasn't worried at first but I'm a bit concerned coz he's very grumpy n not himself. Idk if its the bumps or what's bothering him.

My 2 yr old baby also have 2 little pimples like that and they seems to grow a little bigger now...we have consulted so many doctors and every one said it is normal and would be healed by their own and it would take time...but am not satisfied with this answer...i have a fear in my mind that it might be a big problem and because we are not treating it...it might hurt my child...can anyone tell why these occur and is it normal or not?
thanks a lot

Hello Simone!

One of my friends son had a similar thing, went to the doctor and he suggested Daktarin, now this is meant to be for Athletes foot but she put it all around the area 4-5 times a day or every second change and within 1-2weeks it was fully cleared.

You just have to make sure the cream is fully cleaned off before re-appling. Otherwise may cause nappy rash.

Another good cream is Sudocrem its a zinc based healing cream- very recommened by the midwifes in hopsital

yea, I would check with his doc. Might just be a rash, or an allergy to something in the diapers.

Hi Leaha, thanks for your message. Just for a little more info, the spots are around the base of his penis there's now a couple around his testicles. This is my first baby and I've no idea what is normal and whats not, especially considering he's a boy!!

Hi Simone. From what you just described, if it's just around the head of his penis, sounds normal to me. Some boys/men don't get them, but others do. I know my husband and 2yo son have them and they aren't anything to worry about. I would still check with your doctor though just to be safe.

God Bless

Leaha

Thanks everyone for your help!

The spots are little red pimple type of things and are slightly raised.

We currently use huggies at night, but I am going to try the pampers ones to see if they're any different. We are also trying to potty train our son, but we're not having much luck at the moment. He just likes carrying the potty around!!

I thinks it's going to be a trip to the doctors again. I never seem to be away with one thing or another :o)

Hey there (:
I have a 16 months old daughter and we had same prolems. We have tried everything, even doctor did not know about what it could be, but she gave the prescription hormone cream and only this helped. I this moment I decided to quit diapers. Well, yeah...at nights and when she sleep in lunch time, I put diapers to her, but when she is awake, then she goes on pot. Since this decision we do not have any problems with allergy. You may try to quit diapers as well, maybe it helps you too:)

What kind of red spots. my son had what looked like pussy blisters we found out that he was allergic to the diapers we had him in. If its not that then IDK.
