I've had a child support case it on my kids father for just about 6 years now and haven't received a dime. He refuses to get a job. I'm at my wits end with this. I have no clue where to go out who to speak to in order to make something happen..

The Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) is proud of the work we do helping the children of Virginia. Last year, DCSE located 153,868 noncustodial parents, established 7,768 paternities and collected more than $639 million (an increase of 1.5 percent over the previous year) for the children of Virginia. Still, unpaid child support is a significant problem. Currently, there are 353,000 child support cases in Virginia. Collectively, 422,000 of Virginia's children are owed more than $2.6 billion.

I do not know where the noncustodial parent is living. Can DCSE find him/her?
DCSE has many automated locate sources available for its use; however, you, as the custodial parent, are one of our best resources for information about a noncustodial parent, since you may learn of addresses, assets or employment from friends or family before that information is available to DCSE through its sources. DCSE staff use locate sources available in DCSE offices. They are not able to physically search for individuals. Even with its sources and with your help, DCSE may still not be able to find a noncustodial parent. Some people are determined not to be found and may use extreme measures not to be located.

I'm not sure if this helps. It also says that if he's not paying, the judge can send him to jail.

Do you know roughly what area he is? What about looking in the phone book or any government records lists that are public. Here is Australia we have the electoral roll that we can search.
Get yourself a lawyer and see if they can help you. Even look at hiring a private investigator.

I literally JUST got off the phone with the police station and they said they can't do anything without an address as well.. and she said she typically doesn't produce warrants over child support.. ugh.. but thank you very much for your advice.

Contact your local police station. If they are of no help, try asking a divorice attornys office or even justthe courts that demanded his child support

I am so sorry to hear that. Can a warrant for his arrest be put out? I know my father was locked up for not paying child support for us at one point...

well I'm in Virginia and they expect you to know where he's at. I don't have a number for him I don't have an address for and I can't get in touch with him so I don't know what else I'm supposed to do.

I am unsure of the rules in your particular state, but as far as I know, here in NJ, if the father does not pay...currently working or not, you can hold him responsible for all the child support he owes. I know it does not help you in the mean time but look into it.
