My 5 year old daughter has had 6 strep throat infections this year! Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice for what steps we should take? We switch toothbrushes, disinfect, finish antibiotics, etc.

Another suggestion is to perhaps have everyone else in the house cultured to see if perhaps they're carriers of strep without showing symptoms. I myself had strep recently (it sucked...noone likes to take care of a baby when they're sick!) and was doing a little research. Apparently that's a possibility, and some antibiotics for both the carrier and their unfortunate victim will clear it up. I'm not necessarily saying that's what's going on, just another suggestion. Hope it helped!

Andrew's surgery was April 2008, so he was 5yo when he got it done...the most trumatizing part for him was the pre-admissions testing with the blood work, beyond that he was a trooper...No scars, and he got to eat popicals and ice cream all week...You have to make it fun for her, before surgery (if it's needed) have a you and her day where you go for one last "good" meal and go shopping for the treats together, this way she knows you aren't scared and therefore why should she...

They mentioned a referral to an ENT..little scared to have her undergo surgery..how old was your son?

I'm new, first off...LOL! Ask your peditrician for a referral to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor...From there they might want an xray on your daughter's throat and your issue might be that her tonsils and adnoids are too large...My Andrew had that problem last year and a month later they were removed...Hope this helps!
