Convertible Carseats - Advice Please!

Hi All,

I am just starting to look into getting a convertible carseat for my almost 9 month old. Does anyone have any recommendations or any thoughts on ones to avoid? The price range is HUGE and I don't know if it is one of those things where you truly get what you pay for... I've seen the cheapest for $39 and the more expensive around $300...

Help please!

I really like the Britax and Radian brands. Radians are smaller, thinner and lighter but still highly rated for safety. As far as the Britax goes I would suggest the Boulevard or Decathalon these seats allow the child to be rear facing until about 30 lbs and ff til over 60 . Some of the smaller models by this company do not accommodate children in the harnessed position for as long as they should be.

I love ours! It's a COSTCO Alpha Omega brand. I paid $180 a couple years ago. It reclines and it very comfortable. I also like it because my son's head doesn't fall forward. It rests nicely on the comfortable head pads.

I did A LOT of research before I bought mine. I looked at ratings and such. I think the main complaint about my carseat, is that it's heavy. I don't mind though. Even if you have to transfer it from car to car, you get used to it.

I hope that helps!

I'll second the Britax. We're using the Marathon. My son's been rear-facing in it since he was 3 months. I definitely think you get what you pay for with car seats - not in terms of safety per se, but in ease of use. If it is difficult to install, adjust, and use properly, then its really not all that safe.
