Daughter gagging herself

Hi! My 14 month old daughter thinks it is great fun to stick her fingers down her throat, or grab her tongue and gag herself. Sometimes it even makes her vomit a tiny bit. We can't figure out why she does it or anyway to make her stop. She just laughs about it. It's obviously not bothering her, but I'm pregnant (and really not feeling well) and I am having a hard time cleaning up after her. Any suggestions or is it a phase that will just pass?

My son did this too, it drove me nuts! He'd always do it somewhere like in the car too, where it was most inconvinient. At first we would loudly discourage it, but it seemed like that just made him want to do it more, because he got attention for it. Ignore it completely and hopefully she will grow out of it quickly. Good luck!

It should pass, my daughter did this for a bit. She has grown out of it. Just let her know its not a good thing to do.

My nephew was the same he would make himself gag at about 18 months but when ever we were around him we would make as little fuss as possible at times he would even vomit in his nannys bin i think it's just an attention thing, your having another little one and your daughter knows she will no longer be the "baby" in her eyes and there's probably alot going on in that little mind good luck with this and the new bub x

it sounds sort of mean but any food she doesn't like you could apply to her hand then when she puts them in her mouth the taste should put her off doing it, if you continue with it she should stop it and is likely never to do it again
