I am scheduled to be induced next Thursday and am having my tubes tied afterwards. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and how the recovery was? My husband will be taking a week off of work after the baby is born so I will have help. I am concerned as to the lenght of time I will need to recover as well as the pain/discomfort from a vaginal delivery and the inscision from the tubal. I remember with my other vaginal delivery, I had minimal pain for a few days but I have heard that there is more abdominal pain after the second child...as opposed to the first. Thanks for any help!!!!

Thanks ladies for all UR help. I hope that I too can be up and going after a couple of days!!! I feel a bit better about it all. I just hate the thought of not being able to do anything after the tubal. I was pretty much able to do get around fine after my first vaginal delivery.

I had a c-section and I think the only problem I had was with stairs for a few weeks after so the small incision for the tubes should be ok. I think a week off for your husband will be wonderful for you and by that time you will want him to go back to work and get some alone time with your new bundle!

Second labours are said to go quicker than the first! I am currently expecting my second Aug. 29th! I was induced with my first one! I think that the only reason that the abdominal pain will be worse is cause of the induction! Cause of the induction the contractions are alot harder and stronger than if you were to do it natural! This time I am doing it natural hopefully! But with the induction once the contraction starting picking up I delivered like 2 hours later and pushed for only 10-15mins! Just be prepared for the long process of waiting for the contractions to pick up! Got induced 10 am in the morning and had my son at 7:13pm! Hope this helps!

Personally haven't been there but my sister said with her second there wasn't much difference with the abdominal pain and one of my good friends had her tubes tied after having her second kid, she said the same with the abdominal pain. They tied her tubes the day after her daughter was born and for her it was a matter of a couple of days before she was back up and going as good as could be expected for a vaginal delivery. Hope this helped even if just a little.
