Hi Melissa! My girlfriend has 2 little ones (now 3 & 2) they're 11 months exactly apart. Their daddy is in the military also, and I believe that she's had the same fears. While he's deployed, always be sure to keep pictures of him out and tell Kate that that is her Daddy. Make sure that you reinforce that Daddy loves her very much, and hates that he's away from her, but he has to work and help protect her.

When he has the very minimal time that they get to call, make sure that she's included in the call to let her hear his voice and let her babble away to him. If you have home videos of Daddy put them in for her. I guarantee that these will be one of her favorite shows. Show her pictures of her Daddy holding her (whether in the hospital, or even after as she's gotten older.) Tell her stories from when she was a baby, about how much Daddy loves to watch her smile, or how much he loves her smile or other fun things that he loves about her. Every day, at least once a day, make sure that you let her "talk" to Daddy's picture. Make it a sort of ritual... saying Goodnight to Daddy (Daddy's picture, of course).. or in the morning (tell him 'Happy Morning Time, or something of the sort. Just so that she gets used to talking to him, and associates his picture with Daddy. That should minimize any stress when he comes home.

Oh! And if you have a shirt of Daddy's or some of his cologne... put it on a teddy bear that he gave her (or other stuffed animal). Many times his scent will help to comfort her.

I really hope this helps!

Hugs to you and your family!!
