My name is Jackie and I stay in Harmony, NC at the time being. I have 3 boys that are my angels. I have a 5, 7, 9 year olds. My 7 year old Khristian has ADHD and he has alot of counciling. He is on meds. and its still not under control. He is under some evaulations but he is driving me crazy with his mood swings and out of control temper tamptrums. His dr.'s say that's normal and just bare with him. You know trying him on different meds. He eats all the time especially at night. He has had this since he was 4. But it has gotten worse. He has had a hard life which I understand. Do you have any ideas on how to control it or deal with the situation?

Sensory intigration can work really well too. It helps to calm them down. Is he seeing an occupational therapist? They specialize in this type of therapy and can also offer advice for what you can do at home aside from therapy sessions. There are a lot of on-line resources for this and ADHD. I agree with Crystal and would definitly recommend educating yourself if you haven't already. Good luck!

The best way to deal with ADHD is to educate yourself. My sons father has ADHD and I was worried about my son inheriting it from him. I took a few courses to help myself and my son better deal with it. I am also a educational assistant and I work with children who have ADHD aswell. I found just limiting their distractions, and a schedule work the best. I hope this helps, and I wish you luck!
