my boyfriend is dominican and he believes in that "girls do inside work guys do outside work." yet... our lawn looks like a jungle haha. And most times, I'd rather do it myself than ask 5 billion times for help. I will clean the whole house and he will come home, leave his shoes in the living room, dirty dishes on the table (mind you, 2 feet from the sink). It's gotten to the point where I throw all of his "stuff" in the basement that he leaves in the wrong place.. yet he's not asked why he is running out of shoes lol

I got extremely lucky and my husband doesn't mind cleaning and cooking. Actually I think some weeks he does more housework than I do!

It's so funny, this topic is the ONLY thing we ever have fought about! I will do all the housework(laundry, dishes, cooking, etc) I just wish he would PICK UP AFTER HIMSELF.... my husband is military, I just wish his basic training mentality would of rubbed off more :P

yea! we're both about equal with the housework! it's a bit unfair if they don't! we ain't servants ladies!!! we shouldn't be expected to look after the kids & do the housework all by ourselves!! (some of us working too!!) it should be equal surely?! otherwise if it was me i'd just feel like i was "serving" a man who thought i WAS his servant & not his equal & good enough to be helped and looked after sometimes! i'd hate it!! i'm glad my hubby is so kind!

No i don't think most men are tought how to work in the home. Most are taught to get a carreer and work outside the home. I have two boys and they are gonna learn that their job does end when they leave their paid jobs, They will learn to maintain a household. It's must and their future wives will greatly appreciate this. Because i wish my husband helped out more.

If you nag them hard enough. Luckily for me my husband has been somewhat housebroken, he knows the chores I expect him to do on a regular basis and he does it with minimum prodding on my part. This includes doing the dishes, walking the dog, and occasionally doing laundry. I also use saturdays as my whole-house-clean-up day, so I delegate him to clean our son's room that day. (Let him pick up millions of toys!)

Mine does.. LOL For some reason he would prefer he do it rather than me. But we both Work so he feels we both should do stuff around the house. I do the laundry and the basic cleaning up and he does the deep cleaning.. we both Do the dishes :)

Well when I first met my husband, his room was a disaster and when he went to work. I went and cleaned it, did his laundry had it all done before he got home. When he did come home, he was in amazement and looked at me and said I was a keeper. He only does housework if I leave a note or get mad at him. He refuses to use a washer or dryer I don't actually think he knows how to use it. lol. I wish he would help out more but sometimes I think I don't want him to because he won't do it the right way and I would rather not get mad at him about it:)

My husband will come home from working 8 hours and cook dinner and wash dinner if I hadn't got to it yet. And yes there have been days that he cleans the whole house by himself! I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful husband!!!

My hubby puts the rubbish out and cleans the kitchen without being asked but everything else he needs gentle coaxing.

My husband doesn't realize that it's actually legal for men to take out the trash! Or do laundry! And when he does try to help, he doesn't do it right, as in he doesn't do it the way I do it. I always have to reload the dishwasher.

My husband is amazing, we both work full time and he helps more than I ask. He loves to cook and he actually thinks doing the dishes is relaxing! So I do the laundry and clean the rest of the house most of the time but on his days off we spend time together by cleaning the house and making a nice dinner together and end it with a movie snuggled up on the couch.

We kind of have a deal, I do the laundry and he does the dishes...well, after the house gets really bad, we are kind of sloppy people...oops!

I work fulltime and my hubby's a student. We share the housework 50/50. He's much more of a clean freak than I am. I think in today's world when women are pulling the same weight as men, it better be 5/50.

Well thanks for the great responses, we have been together for 7 years and he is an awesome man very hard worker, but the only time he has helped with house work is when I was @ the end of my pregnancy and working full time, he would do the dishes. So I was just curious, Thanks Ladies!

My husband will do it, but he has to be asked 95%of the time. He does a great job though.

Hell yea, my husband is a stay at home dad to 3. He does all the cooking and usually ends up doing the dishes too. I do baths and bed time. He does majority of the cleaning, I will straighten up when I get home from work and we both do it on the weekends and he will wash and dry the laundry, I fold and put away and he goes to school full time.

My husband doesn't notice the mess as much as I do. For example he will wash the dishes after dinner but not wipe the crumbs off of the counter. He just doesn't notice things like that. He will, however, do anything willingly if I ask for his help. We've only been married for 2 years and only have 1 child so far, so I am appreciating it now just in case it doesn't last. LOL!

ahhh if only you knew what the beginning of my marriage was like! My hubby thought that the woman did all the house work and the men just worked outside the house. That's when I told him - what?! You need to get a f***in clue! Since then, 4 years later and many battles back and forth we have come to a very happy medium, mind you we have two kids together now also, and he helps with EVERYTHING. But let me tell you it was work from the start. Thats part of marriage too though coming to a happy medium to get the housework done esp. when both are working.
