Does chicken pox require doctor visit?

Hi,

My 3 year old stepson seems to have chicken pox. I've researched and started using things to relieve his itching, but I'm wondering if I need to take him to the doctor to be checked out? I know there may not be much they can do for him, but I don't want it to be something other than chicken pox and end up being dangerous! I'm leaning toward taking him in the morning. Opinions?

I had the chicken pox 3 times when I was a kid and I never went to the doctor for it. My cousin's kid however got it so bad that it was making it hard for her to breathe. She literally had chicken pox in her throat. Just keep an eye on it, if it doesn't get too severe there's no reason to actually go to the doctor. If you're worried though, it wouldn't hurt to call the office.

I would just keep a close eye on him and if he looks like he is really suffering then take him in.

Call your surgery and ask. My two had them Last summer and I rang my surgery my doctors said they didn't need to see them at all. You do have few emergency cases were it affects their breathing and then you need to seek out medial assistance.
