so i read all kinds of articles to get your baby to sleep through the night or take longer naps but kallie does all of that already. she is awake maybe 10 hr a day when she is with me. at the daycare she doesnt sleep very long because so much is goin on so when we are on our way home she falls asleep and then is asleep the rest of the night. but on the weekends she takes naps and still going to be about 6. am i boring to her and is she sleeping too long are my two questions? she is 8 months. i know you are suppose to let the baby sleep but is there such a thing as too much sleep? she has also ALWAYS slept like this except maybe the first week i brought her home? im not complaining oh god am i not complaining but i just want to know if it is ok to her development

My son is 21 mo old and he usually goes to sleep around 8 or 9pm and wakes up about 9 in the morning. He also takes at least one hour n 1/2 nap every day. Our son has also slept a lot since he was born. I just think daycare is probably exhausting since they do so much so I let him basically choose when he goes to sleep at night.

My daughter slept a lot when she was first born. I was worried she slept too much. She slept most of the day and most of the night. They made me wake her in the hospital because she hadn't eaten in 4 hours because she was asleep and it still took an hour to wake her. Some babies just love to sleep. Ever since about 6 months she's slept 12 hours and night and 2 1.5 hour naps. She's 16 months now. I wouldn't be concerned.

my boy is just over 9 months and when his teeth arent hurting he sleeps 11 to 12 hrs a night and 2.5-3 hr nap in the morning and a 2-3 hr nap in the afternoon! he eats REALLY REALLY well :) hes almost walkin and is healthy as can be!! i wouldnt worrie about how much she sleeps just enjoy the time well it last! hope this helps :)

i dont think you should be worried. as long as she eats good while she is awake then everything should be ok. some kids just require a lot more sleep than others. besides, sleeping allows dreaming which helps build mental health. you could have a dr. or scientist in 25 years. :)

All my kids, even my newborn, were great sleepers. Well I should say are. lol. Our oldest sleeps about 10 hours a night (she's 8 1/2), our son sleeps 12 hours a night (he's 4 1/2), our toddler sleeps 12 hours a night with a 2-3 hour nap during the day (she'll be 2 next month) and our newborn sleeps on average about 18-20 hours a day broken up into about 2-5 hour spurts depending on the time of day. Less so during the day and the longer periods at night. I'm very grateful for it too, some kids are just horrid sleepers.

Yes that's ok. Actually babies who sleep well tend to develop better than those who don't because they aren't as grumpy they tend to try to do more. Both my kids are good sleepers and are both above their ages for development.

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but my 4 month old is the same. It is my understanding that babies (even at 8 months) sleep something like 14-15 hours a day. So it sounds OK to me. My baby just started daycare and she is also exhausted when she gets home - she eats, goes right to sleep and sleeps all night (maybe waking once to eat). I hate it cause we used to be together all day (when I was still on leave from work), but now since she is going to be at 6 I only get to play with her like 1-2 hours a day during the week ;-(

yeah if shes only 8 months old theres no problem with her sleeping so much.. my daughter was like that too.. she slept like that for about a month and then she refused to nap and then it was back to sleeping all the time... the doc just said it was from her growing... shes 2 now and shes way above her development for her age... take it advantage of it.. she'll eventually decide that theres more exciting things to do than sleep and want to be up running around all the time everywhere with no nap.... ha so take advantage.
