My daughter Zoey will be a year old at the end of the month. The only thing I can get her to eat that is a solid food is bread or crackers. She has a horrible gag reaction as well . She hates baby food if she doesn't like it she will make herself spit it back up. Help me please. She needs to eat more solid foods but Im not sure what I can give her. She only has two teeth and Im always so scared she will choke.

At a year my daughter only had her four front teeth. Which they don't really use to chew they use their gum's. She ate everything we ate we just cut it up real small for her. Usually if they see you eating it and enjoying it they will eat it. She is very active and always on the go so we would just leave her food where she could get it and she would help herself when she was hungry. You don't want to start a habit of making a couple different meals so she should eat what you eat. If you aren't comfortable with her eating everything you are eating which she can she'll use her gum's to chew, then you could make sure that at least a few things you are making she can eat as well so she sees you eating it making for a less picky eater. Some softer food she could eat is mashed potatoes, veggies cooked til they are soft like peas and carrots. You could also cook turnip and mash it with butter and a little sugar out daughter loves this. She also loves sweet potatoes. You could try very ripe fruits. Pasta is good too just cook it a little longer than normal so it is softer. Ravioli is good too you can get the cheese and meat variety and the meat is so ground up. Ground beef is a good meat as it crumbles into small pieces she can just swallow whole. She can eat chicken too just cut it up small. For breakfast good and simple solutions are toast not to toasted with peanut butter, pancakes or waffles(which you can buy frozen of make ahead and freeze yourself). French toast is good too and scrambled eggs. Oatmeal is a good option too. I'll stop for now but if you have any other questions just send me a message or post it here.

My son was the same way by his first birthday he only had one tooth... you would be surprised how much those rock hard gums can do on softer foods...

Hey Samatha, I have the same problem with my 2 year old. He hardly eats anything. Everyone has told me to let him eat when he wants to eat. Try soft peaches, cheese, fishes, bologna, things she can eat with her hands and on the go and alot of the times it's because they dotn want to sit still. But try letting her eat when she wants... I have done this with Johnathan and he has got to the point now he comes to me when he's hungry.
