Rite my problem is that my little 12week old girl has found her hands and keeps sucking them....

do i let her keep sucking them and run the risk of her sucking her hands/thumb for quite a few more years.....

give her a dummy???

My thinking was if my lil girl throws a trantrum about taking the dummy off her it will only last a few hours but her thumb will always be there and i cant really stop her sucking her thumb....

please help thankz x

i did some research on this question... Unless you little girl is still sucking her thumb after 4 or 5 years there is no problem. Usually they stop around 2-3 years. However anything after that will have significant damage, They say it can delay speech, and as usual mouth development. Sucking is one of the best ways to sooth your child. Less stress and the both of you, let her enjoy the sucking.... for now.:)

My little girl used to suck on her hands and fingers at that age and used a dummy as well. I started to get a little worried just like you but after a few months and her finding new things that she can do she does not suck on her hands or use a dummy. She is now one and I just have to worry about her eating anything she finds like rocks! :) Dont worry i am sure it is something your little girl will grow out of. Just remember everything is so new and neat to her.

hi there

my little boy is 4moths old and still wont take a dummy. he was such a screamer up untill 3months and it used to drive us bonkers that we couldnt give him a dummy to settle him. He has just found his hands and fingers and to be honest im just going with it. At the end of the day dummy or thumb, she will grow out of it. Everyone always told us a dummy would be better because you can take it away though x good luck
