I pierced my oldest daughter's ears when she was about 1 year old. I had a lot of trouble with her taking them out when she was about 3. I worried about her putting them in her mouth so I let them grow shut. I have another daughter who is 3 years old now, and with her I decided to wait till she was old enough to understand you don't play with them.

My husband and I talked about piercing our daughters ears and we thought it should be her choice and that she has to ask for them if she wants them. I don't think it is wrong but I do think you should look at everything first... Like some moms have already said a pro piercer is the best option, they us cleaner needles (were guns are clean there are places that the cleaners can't get to), also a piercing gun has a higher rejection rate and more chance of scaring. My niece had her ears pierced at 3 months old and now at 11 years her ear rings look funny, they aren't in the middle of the lube and sit more towards the cartalige, wait a few more years before getting them done will make sure that this doesn't happen. Hope this helps a bit!

No she just right. i did it. the sooner the better because if you dont do it before she 6 months she will start pulling at them and can do damage. and after 6 months they say you shouldn't get them pierced until 3 or so. i got both my children ears don at that age. they only thing is that you have to clean the ears 3 times a day with the cleaner and have to be careful with the shampoo and bows.

I had my daughter's ears done when she was 6 months. I got them done on the day she got her shots, this way she already had the tylenol in her system and she was already in a crabby mood and would sleep it off.

Three months is definitely not too young but a lovely age to do it. They fuss with them a lot less at that age, it gets it over with and they only cry for a few seconds afterwards. Far better to have it done young than wait until they are older. I had both my girls' ears pierced at that age and it really is best - trust me !

Not at all, I got my daughters ears peirced when she was just two and ahalf months old. She cried for like a minute then she was smiling at the lady who did them. She is now five months old and we had no problem with her earings at all.

Hi, it really depends on your daughter, if she was my daughter i cudnt get it done as she is too aware of everything about her body and i know she would have pulled them out, but if ur daughter is not like that then go for it im sure she will look gorgeous

i was the baby that looked like a boy! my mom had my ears peirced when i really really young..and im glad that she did it..i now have a daughter of my own and were going to be taking her in couple months to get hers done..the holes arent even that big..its not like your gageing your daughters ears..the holes are so small that if she decided when she was older to take them out i highly doubt anyone would notice what was left after it healed..

i say go for it

I agree that it is your choice. I peirced my daughters at 6 months...one of the ears were peirced crooked, so it was going almost directly down. I took just that one out and let it re-close and then had it re-peirced. I wait a little too long (maybe). She is now 3 1/2 and had the other one repeirced and she did not even move. She apparently is tough...so again its up to you, how you feel. Ive seen some little girls scream their heads off when they are older. I Think when they are still babies they will forget about the pain within minutes.

The only reason I didn't pierce my daughters ears is when someone told me that their girl manged to get hers out of her ear a swallowed it. The earing got stuck in one of her lungs! And the was scary enogh for me not to do it

I am only a mother of one and she is the most precious thing in the world and i didnt want to hurt her by getting her ears pierced. I got her's done when she was exactly 3 months... i think i should've went earlier because she did feel it a little she cried for like two seconds but i think the younger the better they wont remember it..good luck

I was told the minimum age to get their ears pierced is 12 weeks old. I had my daughter's pierced at that age and have not had any problems. She cried when they did it but 5 minutes later it was as if it had never happened. She is 1 now and still doesn't seem to know they are there! Just make sure you use the cleaner that they give you and spin them a few times a day for the first 4 weeks. Good Luck!

I have two girls and chose not to get their ears pierced when they were babies. I wanted it to be their choice. My oldest just got hers done about a month after she turned 8. My youngest still does not have them, she is five. Also when a baby gets her ears pierced she can not communicate with you if she is having pain or soreness. She can only cry but you can not know what is going on. As my 8 ear old did have pain and soreness only on the left ear. I was able to watch for infection and kept a closer eye on that one.

[deleted account]

i did my daughters at three months- it wasn't a big deal at all. she cried, but less than she did with her shots- they are easy to clean, no infections, she doens't mess with them and they look adorable!

As long as your daughter has had her first set of shots anyone who is qualified can pierce her ears. I too considered wether she would want them when she gets older so i came to this conclusion, most girls want them pierced so i will just save her the memory of the pain, and when she gets older and decides that she doesnt like them you can take out the ear ring and the hole will grow in with some time. The only tip i have ,however, if you do decide to have them pierced is to have 2 associates do it at the same time, because you will have to hold her head and if they do it one at a time she may be so mad she wont sit still long enough to line up the second shot... hope this helps...

I think that 3 months is the perfect age. Just make sure that they do them even. I had my daughters done and they were not even. At first I thought that as she grew I wouldn't be able to notice it. But I did, so when she was 10 months I let the holes close. When she turned two I had the redone. I was easier to clean them when she was a baby. At two I had to fight with her just to get them cleaned. Now she is almost 6 and she LOVES her earrings!

pierce then, i pierced my daughters and have never had any probs, you just have to look after them, and i think that every girl wants there ear pierced i would like to know how many women actually dont, at least if u get them done young they use numbing cream and its not a prob and then it just becomes part of them, just find a decent place that will do it.

But The younger you get them done the less they remember the pain of having it done :) Good luck and I hope this has helped you :)

No, I work for the Icing by Claires company and we have always suggested that it is easier to get a childs ears pierced when they are younger. They don't remember the piercing and it becomes a part of them. you just have to make sure you always keep them clean.

Odds are your daughter will probably want them pierced. But for me, I'm going to wait until my daughter will be old enough to take care of them herself. That's what my mom did. I was 13 when I got my first earpiercing. But like some of the other moms have said......its completely up to you.

[deleted account]

i got Iris' ear pierced when she was 2 months and about a week, shes not 10 months and she dosn't mess with them and has not had any problems with them. But that is totally up to you. Don't let anyone tell you other wise.

you can get her ears peirced at any time you choose so my uncle is a tatoo and peircer and he said that you can go do it as soon as you get out of the hospital if you choose so and her ear lobes are attached to her head so really it's your decision if when and you do choose

I too am trying to make this decision but here is my opinion. 1. True the holes will be there but I myself have had my ears pierced since I was 11 and you can hardly see my holes at all. It matters how heavy the earrings you wear are. 2. I do not know an adult woman who has said "I didn't want my ears pierced but my parents did it so..." 3. If you don't get them done now, you can use them as leverage like my parents did. They told me that I had to get good grades, do my chores, etc. and when I turned 12 I could have them done. Well they let me get them a little early (a Christmas present from my brother), but they also told me I had to be the one to take care of them.

This is a personal choice. I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was 3... almost 4 years old. I wanted to wait until she was old enough to tell me that she wanted them. I think this is best because it can also be a "special day" that she will be able to remember. I had to explain to her that it would hurt a little bit, but if she wanted them that's what it would take. However, if you do it when they are babies, they won't remember it and most likely they won't appreciate them as much when they are older because they have always had them. If I were you, I would wait, but it's your choice and either way your little princess will look stunning with them on.

I pierced my daughters ears at 3 months i did it because of less chance for infection cause the are too young to pull on them. as for letting them make there own choices when there older if they dont want themthey can take them out and they will close over. no body considers that "choices" opinion when the circumsize there boys!! that is dont for appearence as well right!! so if YOU want her ears done i say do it!!

I got my daughters ears pierced when she was 9 weeks old. I did get them pierced when she was just a baby bc i wanted to know that they wouldnt get infected and with me cleaning them and taking care of them i didnt have to worry about it. & one day if she decides she doesnt want them she can just take them out and let them grow up...

I have many friends who had their daughters' ears pierced as young infants, and I think it's fine! At least when she's a baby she will not mess with the piercings and get them infected. And if when she's older she decides she doesn't want them pierced, she can always take them out and let them close up.

I personally don't think so. I had my daughters ears pierced when she was 2 1/2 mos. old. I checked with her physician who actually recommended the younger the better. If you are afraid she is not going to want her ears pierced the whole is very small and will eventually close after so long w/o earrings.
