hi my name is makya and my son developed eczema when he was just two weeks old i took him too my pediatrician and he prescribed hydrocortisone and told me to use for one week. I notice after using it my sons skin was very white and his skin was more brown because i am black and his father is also i also notice the rash was much better but my son skin was really red his whole entire body. I took my son back to the ped two weeks ago and he prescribed advantan milk 1% and told me to use on the legs and face i've been using it for two days now and notice that the redness is gone on the face but still seeing little on the legs it also has the face really white.I would like to know if anyone has ever used advantan milk and what they think about it and if anyone has any natural way of getting rid of the redness i would love the help because my son is 2 months old and i dont want to use to much over the counter drugs on him...thanks makya

Both of my boys have pretty extensive eczema. My husbands aunt buys Arbonne baby care lotion for them. It works amazingly! When they have bad breakouts, I slather it on and their skin is better by morning. The best part is it is so natural, you can eat it. It doesn't taste very good, so I wouldn't recommend it though. Lol. I hope this helps! Also, my husband and I spent over $5000 at dermatologists and on creams and ointments that didn't work. I really hope this will spare you that trouble!

Hi Makya - my baby is 7 weeks and was diagnosed with eczema. I have just seen your message and that you child developed lighter skin - this is happening to my pumpkin except today it is almost the whole face. How did you deal with this? Is your baby's skin still light?

I am looking forward to hear from you.

Megan, that's strange that that is what you have heard. my ped. was thrilled that was I was using with my kids.

I heard that the benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties.

Something I just remembered. The derms and pediatrician both said to stay away from food products such as crisco, olive or coconut oil because they can very easily grow bacteri and lead to staph infections such as impetigo. My oldest has had it about a dozen times and once they have it they an be more susceptible to it later. Just use extreme caution if you do decide to use food based products and be very clean about it.

We use aveeno lotion for my 7 months old exzema and it takes the redness away after a day or two.

Agree with the coconut oil. My daughter had a huge flare up on her thighs and back of her knees that got worse after three days. I stopped using cortisone because it was turning her skin white also. I changed her soap to aveeno unscented soap and used the oil three times a day. After one day the redness was gone, but the roughness didn't go away till after 5 day. Hopefully this will work, also try changing the detergent to a clear one.

I've had a mild case of eczema my whole life and our son has a mild case from time to time as well. We use coconut oil for ours and it works really well. You can rub the coconut oil directly onto the infected area. It's one of the most natural ways to deal with eczema. Good luck!
